A Beast question to all those here "in the know": Did all of the blue-fur mutation of Hank McCoy occur "off camera" so-to-speak, i.e. not fleshed out as a main comic story line?
All I ever saw about it was as a recap in that Patsy Walker/Hellcat Avenger's issue.
Does anyone also know the motivation at Marvel behind the blue-fur? What was the real reason vs. the fictional explanation given?

Beast became furry in his own solo stories in Amazing Adventures IIRC which came out between X-Men becoming a reprint title and GS #1. IE: During the 'Hidden Years' stretch. He basically experimented on himself thinking it would be a short term thing but it became permanent. Oops.

...
Not sure if you're talking of his color change from grey to blue fur, but I would think that would be for expense reasons, as blue is cheaper and from what I hear easier to control.

JB, Apologies if anyone has asked this before. Given that you've said that Elsewhen is not being published, have you considered including any non-Marvel elements? It could be great to see a team-up between the X-Men and some DC character(s).

M-Cyc! :)
That helmet is the continued evolution of the 70's Cockrum visor. It's like bell bottoms---just keep getting bigger!

With regards to beast --- I meant not so much the color blue but why they wanted him altered at all.

Keep in mind, Wallace, that Magneto “recruited” these mutants on more or less the same timeline as did Xavier. So this Hank McCoy would not have joined the Avengers—in any form! |

D'oh! That's right! I wonder what our reality's Beast would think of his fur-less counterpart!

This is "our" Magneto, right? Wanting to defeat his oldest foes. In the What If? reality, they are not foes at all.

Beast became more beastly during Marvel’s horror phase, mostly (tho not entirely) inspired by the success of THE EXORCIST. This brought us WEREWOLF BY NIGHT, TOMB OF DRACULA, MONSTER OF FRANKENSTEIN, and the black and white books.

This is "our" Magneto, right?---------------------------------- It can only be the real Magneto. Hence his unfamiliarity with Alt-Angel's ruthlessness (only just noticed, he is called Angel on a previous page, but Archangel on the latest page), but familiarity with the real Angel (i.e. he has told Archangel that his counterpart plays by the rules). Ditto his comment that Summers will never learn, that the X-Men are his oldest foes and so on.
And Jean's scan confirms it is Magneto all right. i.e. the real deal to her.
