This seems to be the typical Liberal/Democrat folly. Take a great idea that probably should be implemented, and brand it with the worst name/branding/message you could possibly come up with, one so bad that it will instantly turn off half the voters who hear it simply by the name alone, and than wonder why it can't be done.
Democrats really need to hire the people that shape the branding and messaging for Republicans, while that party is terrible, they make their talking points and messages simple enough that Cletus can follow it, and deceptive enough to fool Cletus and Billy-Bob into thinking it will be good for them.
Don't call it "defunding the the police" call it " a common-sense back to basics approach" where cops will only have to be cops and fight crime, they won't have to be social workers, and addiction counsellors and mental health experts.

Like the reforms outlined after the riots in Watts? Like the reforms outlined after Rodney King? Like the reforms outlined after Eric Garner? Like the reforms outlined after Philando Castile?
See where I'm going with this? Major reforms equate to paperwork that makes citizens and politicians feel like they've done something (when they've actually done nothing) and protects police departments from implementing any actual reform. Been that way my entire life.
Isn't it time to say enough is enough?

I fully agree that branding is important. All the idiotic decisions that have been made in my country have been off the back of simple three word slogans that are easy to understand and pass on. "Take back control" being the prime example during the EU referendum. Doesn't matter that these phrases are meaningless, they resonate and lead to change whether the people that vote for them know what they are getting or not getting at the end of it all.

It will be interesting to see whether or not any of this leads to change. Cancel culture, identity politics, public shaming...the whole approach by the left seems unsustainable to me and, in fact, ultimately detrimental to their cause.
The vast majority can only prostrate themselves and beg for forgiveness for so long before it turns to resentment.
The system has it's flaws but I think those who are currently wielding a little power aren't showing themselves fit to lead or even showing that they have everyone's best interest in mind.
Our country is at the point that many of our "leaders" are literally bending their knees and bowing to mob threats. Encouraging and forgiving criminals and criminal activity.
I think it's painfully obvious that Democrats are desperate and not only willing, but actively trying to tear the country apart. It's probably already too late to care.
The willing endorsement of everything that's gone on says a lot to me about those who are happy to see cities burn. To see people fired and their lives destroyed over nonsense. I predicted that this toxic environment would only strengthen Trump's chances at re-election but now I think most "regular" people are so afraid of being cancelled that they will think twice about voting for who they want and instead vote for who will allow them to not be destroyed by the mob.

Why would anyone be worried about ramifications based on who they actually vote for? Voting is still secret yes?
I think to blame Democrats for trying to tear the country apart after 4 years of Trump and his toxic tweets, shameful lies and new language of alternative facts is a bit rich Andy.
Right now, there is a period of 'reap what you sow'. America is living in a period where you have a President that has, on numerous occasions, indicated that if he could, he would like to remove the two term limit, has shown distrust in the voting system, the press, victims of white supremacist assault, made an art of branding people as 'the other', claimed he has achieved things when he hasn't, postulated that innocent victims might be terrorists, denied things he has clearly done that were illegal, rules by fear, the list could go on for a very, very long post.
At some point, something has to give. The dam has broken, gassing people so you can walk to a church is not the thing that will mend it (I know, old news, but there it is).
America needs change, it may have to break to get that change. It had to do it before, clearly, the underlying tensions still exist in some areas, it looks like it may again. This may be the start, November may well be when things really kick in.

I'd argue the Democrats have gone far and above anything Trump has done or proposed. And that isn't defending Trump. The Democrats are the ones that decided to get down in the gutter and do even worse.
I really don't see a comparison between Trump wanting to end term limits and literally burning down cities. Term limits for the President were an amendment back in the '40's. There were no term limits for 150 years before that. So, Trump would like it to revert. Unorthodox, sure. Perhaps controversial. But nothing compared to bowing to the mob and endorsing rioting.

Ok, I'll bite. Give us your top 5 horrible things the Democrats have done or proposed since January 20, 2017 and for comparison give us the top 5 horrible things that you feel Trump has done or proposed since January 20, 2017. It is your opinion and your point of view, but it will help us better understand what you think is important.

I echo Eric’s question Andy. I genuinely cannot see what the Democrats have done that is worse than the Divisive actions of Trump. I would welcome understanding on this area, not to be dismissive, not to be argumentative, but genuinely to try to see the other view here.
I will admit you have a mountain to climb to convince me, but I would like to see the evidence.

Why are you guys still paying attention to Andy? It’s time you’ll never get back and he’s certainly not worth the effort.

Seattle now has a six block cop-free area controlled by a self-styled warlord with armed minions. So far the city government response is docile, for fear of a bloody confrontation. Maybe not what people had in mind with "defund", but what did they expect?
