 QUOTE:
If you want more wacky stuff check out Superman 307 - 309 by Gerry Conway and Jose Luis Garcia Lopez subtitled "Krypton -- No More!"

I've read that story, and didn't enjoy it. There's a not-too-terrible Superman and Flash pairing that I recall, but still nothing close to that single-issue Solomon Grundy story.

I notice that the Superman coin is in the Wonder Woman box. Interesting... :)-
--------------------------------------------------
Au contraire, mon ami.

I can see why you'd say that, but that box is labelled legacy or "l'etoffe des heros". Not necessarily clear from the photos, but on the side is Batman, on the inside of the lid is Wonder Woman, with a greyed-out Ma and Pa Kent and baby Clark in the background. The cover with Lois and Superman has a greyed-out Wonder Woman and Batman in the background. So it's not a Wonder Woman box, but a "Stuff of Heroes" box.

Some more Garcia-Lopez art that accompanied the coins:

Previously that year, there was also a standalone Superman coin, that also looks like it had packaging-art by Garcia-Lopez:

Hah, just noticed his shirts. If anyone's earned the right to wear merchandising with their own artwork on it, it would be him!

I've never been on the JLGL wavelength (mostly an issue of my age and what I read back in the day), but my friend just sent me this sketch from his collection and THIS IS AWESOME.

Hints of Toth, in there, which I found a little surprising.

I know his Superman interior artwork is limited to about 20 odd issues or so across Action, Superman, DC Comics Presents and few one shots, etc., but he is, to me the definitive Superman artist. Apologies to others.

And Happy Birthday!!!

That Superman/Wonder Woman treasury is, well, a treasure.

Just going over upcoming cons info with Jose and stumbled
across this thread.

Figured that there may be a few of you who haven't heard
about it yet, but Scott Dunbier has made official
announcements about an upcoming Artist Edition, featuring
Jose's work. Ivhave largely stopped buying them, because
they are so damn addctive. what started out with
Mazzachelli, Byrne, and a few others, grew to become too
many...... that said, I am psyched about this one!

Jose and I brought several portfolios to Baltimore, for
Scott to scan.... this one will be a stunner!

This book was published, though like one of the Superman
volumes for his work, they can be hard to find.
