Jeffrey: I believe these shirts come from web stores that will print anything on a t-shirt for you if you submit an image. Copyrights do not seem to bother them.
—
Why do you think that?
These are actual shirts from the 80’s. I even mentioned I knew of two of them.
Beyond that, why would anyone make a “He’s Back!” Guardian shirt and include Marvel copyright material on the bottom of the shirt?

You noted that you saw them online. I was only familiar with theTeam Logo shirt myself, so just a guess on my part for the odd choice of image.
Most scanned images will have the copyright on them. Someone selecting the "He's Back" image from an old house ad for a personal tee-shirt makes more sense than an official release.

There have been countless comic book related t-shirts that have mostly been sold through the Direct Market since, at least, the 1980s.Before it became "hip" for the mainstream to wear Marvel and DC character t-shirts they can find at Wal-Mart and Kohls for under $10, fans were purchasing such shirts from comic shops for $15 or more dollars when no place else carried them.
So, that noted... I think the shirts Nathan posted about were those distributed through Diamond, Capital, and other 1980s comic distributors.

Obviously, this is NOT JB's art, but...
When did Captain Marvel become a member of Alpha Flight?? Did I miss something?

The Alpha Flight name has been co-opted for an earth monitor/defense force lead by Captain Marvel. Sasquatch and Puck are also members. Along several people I have not heard of.

I have no memory of that house ad...?
Here's a pic of the shirt in the original packaging --
Here's a close up of the tag -- "Screen Stars" produced these shirts in the 80's --

It doesn't exist. Like you, I also would have remembered such a house ad.

That awful t-shirt read to me as "Odin the might that is Alpha Flight" (even with my reading glasses on!)
