I've had a problem with people going around talking about how God loves everyone and he wants everyone to be saved and everyone is treated equally till death in this regard, no matter how sinful you have gotten, no matter how bad you are, you can still be saved. There are too many instances going against this. That it makes me think otherwise.
He finds favor in certain people throughout the Bible.
The good guys can die for a point to be made. Cain and Abel: Abel has done everything right, Cain murders him. Cain gets to live, gets banished. Abel, the good guy. is dead. So when I hear the preacher on the radio saying God has a plan for you, he loves you, I think, "That could include my death."
In the NEW TESTAMENT and After Jesus' resurrection (the forgiving, loving period) a husband and wife are struck dead by god for lying to the church elders. No warning at all, just bam, dead. That story also seems to be overlooked by the preachers that say he loves everyone the same. So how can one tell if they fall on the favored side, or fall withing the group that this husband and wife fell into?
The Bible also talks about people reaching the point where he just lets them go, reprobate mind. Many will go down the easy path and perish, while very few will find the true path and live eternally.

You're absolutely right! Very few indeed. In fact, the number is 0.

People are unwilling to accept the finite nature of life. We struggle and dream and love and hate and then... nothing? So they invent gods to provide us with an afterlife. And it takes about eight seconds for some to add an element of punishment. Religion, created as consolation, becomes a source of fear.

I've often wondered how this/these God(s) and the Hindu God(s) would get along? Could make for a good King-Size Spectacular of some kind.
The people chopped up the cart and offered the cows as a burnt offering to the Lord. 1 Samuel 6:14
And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen. Kings 19:21
And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood. 2 Samuel 24:22
God dislikes the cloven hooves perhaps? Isn't Satanl often shown as cloven hooved? God likes meat offerings... the devil is a vegitarian?
This collection of writings of disparate times and places is a sort of all purpose catch-all depository of stuff, like a good Gong Show episode. It entertains, it provokes, it puzzles, and even has some wise thoughts, but it's not all one thing and obviously not one voice... and sorry, not about one God either as far as I'm concerned.

Odd that God created such a vast universe with only one planet with intelligent life and that life is very corupted and finite.

Ezekiel gets even whackier when God orders him to make bread baked over shit. The debate was over human or cow.

Odd that God created such a vast universe with only one planet with intelligent life and that life is very corupted and finite.•• The ancient Hebrews--some of them anyway--taught that God finished this Creation, sent down the instruction manual and the prophets to show us how to use it, and then moved on. This is why, they taught, the "Age of Miracles" has passed. Not acceptable to Christians, of course, whose hubris demands a "personal God" who takes interest in each and every one of us, every day.

I guess Deism is a sort of variant of what the ancient Hebrews believed, only taken a step further: God created everything and then "went away."
Many of those who wrote or influenced the U.S. Constitution were Deists.
