That clip is awesome! I am so glad you did this, JB!
Thank you to Mike Avila for showing JB’s quick wit - these clips show how spontaneously funny JB is in conversation and here at the Forum. He’s really that quick - it’s not an editing trick!
I really like how both of these were put together- the way the covers are shown and how they flip through the comic book pages is not an approach that I would think would work, but it works remarkably well. There is a hint of this “unboxing” videos where you are reminded of the tactile experience of reading comic books.
And I guess you have to get back to penciling, JB - Neal Adams said so!!

I'll add my thanks to Mike Avila and SyFy for the great series of interview videos.
JB, about the "goat" thing, I get why it's disturbing to you, but at least it is a compliment. It reminds me of how "bad" came to mean something was good or cool in a certain context, such as "Man, that is one bad outfit."
About Mcfarlane inking your work... Hey, there's the new inker you are looking for to ink the X-Men Elsewhen series. Haha!
Seriously though, if Mcfarlane inked the premiere issue, I would imagine it would generate a huge amount of publicity for the series. But, I realize Mcfarlane is not your favorite person in the world.

JB -
Would love to have seen you on Dr Strange, what time period would this have been?
Also, is there an obscure charcter that you wanted to create a small run or mini series for that you never got the chance to?

Seriously. I think it would be a hoot. (Well, I would, if I hadn't Googled....)

To Mike Avila:
I really like your work and these pieces about JB feel sophisticated and easy at the same time, which is a hard thing to achieve. The effect is like getting the "visit with John Byrne" that I would wish for - a charming, witty, appreciative and polite conversation with laughs and lots of good questions answered.
So: THANKS!
...and Thanks to JB too!

“John seemed quite nice. I've heard that he's not liked at all by most of his coworkers...”Only the ones who don’t matter.

The second part of the video was as enjoyable as the first. Could quite happily watch a part 3, 4, 5...
Some good memories in there -- and good to see coverage of X-Men Elsewhen. Hopefully that will give a nudge to whoever is in charge of greenlighting it at Marvel.

"--despite the fact that it was a marginal seller ever in danger of cancelation."
...
When I was buying Uncanny off the rack at that time, I honestly thought it was a "best seller". How could it not be , with those stories and art?!. It didn't help that those "Eagle Award" badges would pop up on the covers every now and again confirming my thoughts.

The Eagle Awards were pretty much meaningless to American readers. (Quick! What were they? Who presented them?)It was really only Chris clinging to his British roots that got them mentioned on the cover at all.

Yeah, I had no clue what they were (and still don't). I must agree tho, that they deserved some kind of award at the time.

Excellent video, thanks John and Mike! Encore!
It wasn't region-locked here in Australia, both this and the previous video played fine for me.
