Paul, in Photoshop I take my 300 dpi scan and just change the width to 600 pixels. When you reduce it to 72 dpi you will loose lots of detail. Don't change the dpi and see what you think.

Thanks, Eric! That's a huge help - I can't wait to try it.
Your last page looks really good - every new page looks more refined than the last.
I think the more a person inks a particular artist, the more you understand how their pencils should come across when inked.

I have inked pencils by other artists in the last year, but only to help me get better with JB’s Elsewhen pages and help me develop my own style. Looking back I have been tinkering almost two years with inking.

Did this entirely on my new Android tablet:

Sloppy in places, but I'm happy with how the hair turned out.

A page I simply could not resist trying my hand at inking.

Hey all.  I've come to the party extremely late.  Once I saw that John had put pencils on the internet, that people could ink... the 12 year old in my started doing back flips and I was compelled to start inking pages in my spare time... I have been working on pages from Issue 8 because it allowed me to ink the X-men, FF and Avengers!!

I took on the role of embellisher instead of just inking the pencils line for line.  This is the first panel I actually finished.  I was taking some inspiration from Byrne's early 90s work and created some zipatone patterns to use on Ironman (ala Bob Layton)

Here is another panel I have almost finished.  I am in a bit of a mental tug of war on this.  In my mind... Logan, being the hair mother that he is, I can't justify him not having stubble. I doubt the guy would shave and not have a 5 O'Clock shadow by noon.  Now JB draws him clean shaven and I wanted to honour what the artist put on paper... but since this is for fun and not a professional gig... I figured I would indulge the urge to make him even hairier. lol
Again, I have been embellishing these a bit.  I added more of a snarl to Logan and emphasized the wrinkles around the eyes and nose.

Thanks for the compliment!

Here is page 20 of issue 8.  I was working on this at the same time as the Ironman/Wolverine page (also from issue 8). I work digitally in Clip Studio Paint and Photoshop equally.  I prefer certain aspects of each program, so I just use both.

I also re-lettered each page so that I would have crisp, hi resolution lettering because I work on these inks at 600 dpi.
