Are we forgetting anyone? Let me rephrase that--I'm sure we are forgetting some important people. Like...
Joe Kubert--I prefer the Silver Age Hawkman (and his helmet!) to the original design, and then I suppose he is responsible for the look of Ragman, Sgt. Rock, Enemy Ace, and probably quite a few more.
Mike Grell--Hawkman's helmet reminded me of Grell's Warlord. Grell designed a whole world full of people in Skartaris and a lot of those are stunning designs. Some people will hate him forever for Cosmic Boy's black "bustier" and Tyroc (a look he is said to have sabotaged as a protest), but there are plenty of other Legion heroes, villains, and bystanders that he is responsible for that made the 30th Century an interesting-looking place. I liked his Jon Sable Freelance and a lot of his designs for Starslayer.
And then there's... Will Eisner--While a lot of young artists had to churn out a lot of work and characters in the WWII era, Eisner's usually had more charm and still hold up to this day. Besides the Spirit, he gave us Doll Man, Blackhawk, Lady Luck, and a LOT of wild, goofy, and beautiful supporting characters. I feel a bit silly that I forgot to include Eisner.
