Egads, that's amazing. Great sense of motion in this, and you really captured the tension and anxiety in her expressions.

Maybe the thread without the commentary is diverting a lot of the traffic to it?

I can't resist making this really dumb comment on the latest page... this is turning into an underground comic! Sorry. In a good way of course. I'm totally hooked wanting to see what's next every time. :^)

If anyone missed the 18 issue Doom Patrol comic circa the mid '00s I recommend you find it... especially if you ever read some of the '60s issues. I'm up to #17 and it keeps getting better and better with really interesting and imaginative twists... the sense of wonder element combined with characters of strong presence. Three issues into the IDW Assignment Earth title and it's a keeper too, and already wishing there had been more of that as well. They can both stand up next to the Hidden Years.

But this right now really is the best thing ever! Someone knowing nothing about X-Men could also be drawn in I'd think.

 QUOTE:
Also just noticed that the view count for this thread, which was around
34,000 yesterday, is now just under 1500.
Huh?

It's as if it swapped counts with the "True Believers" thread.

It's disappointing that the counts are so unreliable, as we're "just" 33,000 away from million post total in the Forum. That's something to commemorate -- except we may have already passed it!

Great page with Sprite! I did not expect to see that
tunnel.

That page would make Jim Shooter's head explode.

I have a few ideas about the tunnels but I can't express them because then they wouldn't be used! ;)

Mr.Byrne, are you going to add dialogues to the first pages?

'nother great page!

I didn't have a lot of time with Sprite as I was out of comics by the end of '80, so I haven't seen any changes or iterations of her character. This is just the way I left her all those decades ago.

I would love to see JB ink these. His liquid line would be even more prevalent.

edit to add a missed word.

If I didn't know better, I'd say Marvel was throwing out the welcome mat.

LINK

(A feeble attempt at humor, imagining Marvel had seen this thread. Just days after these gorgeous pages begin appearing, Marvel announces the Uncanny X-Men are returning. To my eyes they already have.)

Edited to clarify post. Apologies for any confusion.

The other day I was looking at the issue of HIDDEN YEARS that I inked (16), and remembering what fun that was. However, I'm not sure I'd want to try that here. Truth is, my mind's eye has not yet found a finished look for these pages.

(Speaking of which, brace yourselves for the next one. An unexpected [I hope] turn is in the offing!)
