If JB went back to Marvel, I'd buck the tide and not suggest a return to FF or X-MEN or the characters he's done previously (which excludes a LOT), but rather let him loose on things he hasn't done before.

He'd be awesome on DR. STRANGE, I'd love to see what he'd make of GHOST RIDER were he so inclined, and... heck, why not, how about MAN-THING?

A straight up monthly horror comic from JB would be amazing.

Best not get Terry to ink that one. We'd end up with the tidiest swamp monster ever! ;-)

Knowing of your fondness for War of the Worlds Tri-pods, would you consider a KILLRAVEN reboot?

How about CAPTAIN BRITAIN?

My first exposure to him was during your time on MARVEL TEAM-UP

I don't know know who or what the character is right now, but I'd
vote for the Silver Surfer. You could go for the planet crushing sci fi,
some Earth drama, into the microverse. Weave in and out of SS
being the main character. Just the Lee/Kirby FF years setup can
take the character to any corner of the Marvel universe, and any
genre.

I would personally love to see you collaborating with Marc Guggenheim on X-Men: Gold. The book doesn't currently have a regular art team, so you wouldn't be displacing anyone there.

Or - a new X-Men series that you write and draw in current continuity.

I liked your New Gods/Jack Kirby's Fourth World series, so what about the Eternals? You could use the classic Kirby characters mixed with non-Kirby ones as Titanis, El Vampiro, Lost Generation's Pixie or the New Breed (Aurelle, Ceyote, Psykos,...). You would have lot of freedom to develop the non-Kirby ones.

I loved your use of Dr.Strange in the Fantastic Four and I think you could do a great job with him.

The classic Defenders: The first arc could use the founders: Dr.Strange, Hulk, Namor and Silver Surfer. After that the main team would be Valkyrie, Hellcat, Nighthawk, the Gargoyle,... using the founders when they are available or suitable to your stories.
In the original series only Hulk and Dr.Strange were mainstays, with Silver Surfer and Namor appearing sporadically.

X-Men: The Hidden Years (the continuation) or Untold Tales of the X-Men (similar to the Busiek/Olliffe series).

Spider-Man and Alpha Flight Limited Series with a similar format to X-Men and Spider-Man LS and Spider-Man and Fantastic Four LS by Christos Gage. The main villain could be the Master and Spider-Man teaming with different Alpha Flight line-ups.

So many options...

So, from JB’s comments, I think we need a book that does not have a current part in the MCU, does not have a current creative team allocated & would be free from cross over interference.

Edit - & also does not have bad memories or he feels he has said all he had to say about the characters

I stand by THE INVADERS

My vote would be Silver Surfer. (I think his book got cancelled last year.)
