This is one of my favorite images of Cyclops drawn by JB. I really dig the alternate costume.
Anyone else have favorite alternate costumes (as opposed to the "classic" outfit the character may wear)?
The Wasp alone could probably fill up several pages!

JB's brown and orange Wolverine costume is my very favorite alternate costume. I really haaaaate the yellow and blue.
I really liked the black and red "pre-Venom" alternate Spider-Man when it was first shown to the public in an issue of MARVEL AGE.

Brown Wolverine comes to mind. Yellow Aurora as well. I confess to liking the pre venom black costume very much when it first came out.

I liked what Steve Rogers wore when he went as 'The Captain' after he was forced to step down as Captain America. Obviously Marvel liked it too because the costume got re-used by John Walker as U.S. Agent.

I saw Jim Shooter a few months back at the at the North Texas Comic Book Show. I had asked him about the red on Spidey's costume and why it was changed to white. He told me a that it was a mistake in the Marvel Age article. There never were plans for the highlights to be red.

There were changes in costumes in the Legion of Super-Heroes costumes in the early 70s, and I liked some of them a lot. There were others that I wasn't so fond of... as in, what the HELL was Cockrum thinking when he redesigned Colossal Boy???

I was telling Mike Zeck one time how much I loved those Spider-Man drawings he did for Marvel Age not realizing Rick Leonardi drew them until Mike told me! lol

Loved what later became the US Agent suit Cap wore during the John Walker storyline. Still have a soft spot for the Simonson battle armor on Thor...preferably with the beard. Black suit Spider-Man is always a favorite. Brown/tan Wolverine should be mandatory over that damn yellow and blue.

To me Wolverine's brown suit is actually a uniform change and not an alternate. Maybe that outfit he took from Fang of the Imperial Guard (yuk!) and wore a while could be considered an alternate.

According to this post at CBR, the original proposal for the black Spider-Man suit came from a fan... and the logo was conceived as being red in that original proposal. LINK
