Thought it was time for a new and hopefully continuing post on our companions and the life around us.

Mostly motivated by the newest addition to our family. May I introduce to you...Sophie!

This picture is two years old, as Fat Kitty, the distinguished fellow who looks most ashamed, died last year at age 17-20.  Anyway, here is a clowder of cats who all had to get together in the room that was undergoing renovations.

This is Sam, our current rescue dog,we have had him 9
years this month, he is daibetic, which turned him blind
virtually overnight, but he copes well and we love him
to bits! In this pic he is running free safely on the
beach.

Below is a picture of Laddie and Cody. They were working dogs on my Father-in-Law's farm. Laddie (on the left) was older and three legged and could easily outwork his younger replacement. They are Rough Collies which is what Sophie is and she will look similar to them when she is mature.

Mau is our cat. He's a rescue. How old Mau is, only Mau knows, and he's not telling. We've had him 6 and a half years though and I'd guess he was already a few years old then.

Lola is our dog. She is 6 years old, but still full of beans, though you wouldn't know it from this picture.

Having critters around helps to balance the world somehow. One of my deer friends in the backyard...

That deer may be a tad overweight!

Or have a spotty bun in her doe oven. :^)

I never feed them by the way, around here that would get you in trouble, at least with people who know better, and is no help ultimately to the animals.

We have two black-haired dogs, an 11-year old cat, and the world's fluffiest 1-year old kitten...

...the constant shedding and pet dander makes me insane.  God forbid you walk through our house through the middle of a humid summer day... you'll get a nice, fine, fuzzy coating on the way out!

Short on sleep, up about 4 with Sophie, rest of the time is pee patrol. Good thing there is no carpet in the house.
