I have to admit it's surprising to me to hear of certain artists "swiping".  But, in the same FB page they have examples of Kirby of all people.  Would have never thought he would be in the same conversation as Rob Liefeld in that way.

I wish Buckler didn't feel the need to swipe, and then get a reputation for swiping.  Aside from his Kirby and Adams styles, there was a pure, strong, and very cinematic Buckler style that I absolutely loved.

Eric, I feel the same way about Greg Land. In his earlier work during his run on "Nightwing," he didn't appear to me to have swiped as much, if at all, and his work looked great. Somewhere along the line, he got into the mode of tracing photographs for what appears to be nearly every panel and cover.

I’m reminded of when I was starting out, and was really impressed with the work of Esteban Maroto. Much as I liked what I saw, tho, I very quickly learned not to swipe from him, since he (or his studio) swiped a LOT, and I couldn’t be sure I wasn’t getting Neal Adams or Joe Kubert or Gil Kane once removed.

I get why professionals like JB fear "swiping from memory." Amateurs like me, however, think it's a desirable superpower and I wish I had it! It'd fool people into thinking I have drawing skills!
