Minus the hair helmet, I felt a young Loni Anderson was a good match for Kirby's Sue.

I love how J.B. regularly gave Sue a change of
hairstyle, but it was still recognisably Sue.

I've always enjoyed JB's Sue, but I really
think he drew the best Reed Richards I
ever saw.
His rendition is certainly my favourite,
though I do find Jack Kirby's depiction of
Reed stretching but still having a
muscular, powerful build to be very
intriguing.

I agree. When I think of Reed Richards, aside from the Kirby original, I think of JB's version. JB "owns" the Thing even moreso, i.e. you say "Ben Grimm" and I think of a JB drawing from his FF run.
Question: most of the women that Kirby drew looked around...140 lbs? But Sue always looked somewhat thinner, didn't she? Can't use Google Images at the moment, have to try to actually be productive today.

Ms Anderson, in that picture, also has the pale blonde hair Sue used to have, back in the early, early days. One of the things that went away as production pressures and deadlines began to squeeze harder and harder.(Oddly enough, that was how the Thing's eyes turned blue! One dot of color instead of two!)

Namorita was also quite hot. •• What a strange adventure that was! I started using Namorita in NAMOR with, as I recall, my second issue. This brought cries of alarm from that team book (title forgotten) she was appearing in. "She's OUR character!" I said that was like the TEEN TITANS trying to put an exclusive claim on Robin. I kept using her, as I felt she properly "belonged" to whatever book the Sub-Mariner had. Then the other book did a story in which she was crucified on the deck of a boat. I had not been told about this before publication, but of course I was compelled to go along with it, after the fact.

I can see the young Loni Anderson angle - but for some reason when I see JB's Sue, I can't help but get that Grace Kelly vibe.

I had no one fixed image in mind for Sue, but I can say Grace Kelly wasn't among my selection. I find/found her too… immobile.Of course, all the years I spent trying to "cast" Sue were swept away when Hollywood cast Jessica Alba. sigh
