I wouldn't go THAT far. See Dark Horse Conan, IDW's other GI Joe books, etc.

Yeah, I saw that, but it's not like he couldn't tell flashback stories before if he wanted to. But it's his baby. If he says it opens new ideas, more power to him.

I was speaking generally. ;-)
They just don't seem to be as gimmicky as the big books. I can't believe that, less than six months after renumbering, Marvel are returning to #1s.
Shawn, I'm really enjoying G.I. JOE and thank you for your enthusiasm in helping me jump back on board. I can't wait to see where it all goes.

No problem, Robbie! Another thing that I appreciate about G.I. Joe is it's timeline: All of the original Joes were involved in either Vietnam era conflicts and were active during the Cold War. Every Joe should be retired by now but while the continuity remains, the timeline is never mentioned.

That's the way to do it. They did it with the FF, I'm sure Reed and Ben's WWII exploits were simply not mentioned after a while.

Action- I prefer Superman as Krypton’s Last Son, but I do like Zod. Detective- My favorite Batman book Flash- better of late. Eager for Flash-War Hal Jordan & GLC- one of my favorites. A lot of fun JLA- glad it’s being cancelled. Would’ve dropped it anyway. Mera- only a mini. Glad Ocean Master will be showing up. Terrifics- high hopes. Darth Vader- another favorite. Thanos- another villain book. Just finishing the storyline then... eh

Last issue of Elfquest ever comes out this week.
Bye Cutter, Leetah, Skywise etc, it's been a long, fun, at times heartbreaking journey. You will be missed

Speaking of Elfquest - Comixology has a 50% off sale for the entire line on at the moment.
They also have a code - ECCC - which adds another 50% off, so just managed to get the entire saga on digital for £15.
I used to be skeptical about digital, but these comixology sales are really killing my wallet!

So, to folks who picked up Terrifics, is it a fun homage to classic FF, or is it a mediocre comic with a gimmick roster?
*****
Trying to be as spoiler free as possible...
It's a fun comic that oddly looks to have a similar plot to the current Marvel Two-In-One series. As to whether it's like the FF... It seems to be a bit of an amalgam of a lot of classic concepts - cosmic explorers, similar to the FF/Challengers Of The Unknown and an odd combination of characters brought together through trying circumstances, like The Defenders/original Doom Patrol. The threats are big, but there is also a light hearted playfulness in the banter between the characters that adds to the enjoyment.
It also spins out of the Dark Nights Metal mini-series. While it would help to have read it, it's not essential to understand what's happening.

SAGA # 49 JESSICA JONES # 17

Rod: Just realised all three of the books I picked up this week are written by Jeff Lemire.
****
Probably my favorite new writer of the last decade. For some reason I get most of his stuff in trades rather than single issues (Descender, Black Hammer, though I did pick up Moon Knight monthly) but I wanted to get The Terrifics first issue this week and my LCS said their order was short and they didn't have any. I'm not super crazy about Jeff Lemire's art but Sweet Tooth was powerful stuff.

I've read the SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN/G.I. JOE issue via comiXology.
I like the very modern idea of the Bionic Man's bionics being hacked. Intrigued by this story going forward.
There's a preview in the issue of the forthcoming STREET FIGHTER/G.I. JOE comic. Not sure I am that interested in such a premise.
