Yeah, I thought so too, a little bit. But, he still looks like he needs to build up his muscles a bit. Christopher Reeve was a thin guy before he got the role, but trained and got into shape by the time filming commenced, and he looked in good shape. Brandon Routh still looks too thin to me.

Too late to do anything about it now!

Just making a joke, Matt--wasn't criticizing you in any
way. I probably should have included a :-) in my
post.

I thought as much, but it's hard to tell such things in text sometimes.

So, Glenn, what are your gut feelings about the movie?

I trust that Bryan Singer won't go the campy route, based on his past work in movies, but I am hesistant to believe it will be great.

Mixed feelings, based on what I've read and heard. I
love that Singer is maintaining the continuity of the
Christopher Reeve movies. I think Brandon Routh
looks really good as Clark--very much in the Chris
Reeve mold. I think Kevin Spacey will make for a
very interesting and dynamic Lex Luthor (although
since this is set in the Reeve continuity, I'm
concerned that Spacey will play it too much like Gene
Hackman--more campy than menacing--and that he
won't go bald). Kate Bosworth seems a good choice
for Lois--at least she ain't Beyonce! Langella is a
fine actor and I'm sure he will do a good job as Perry
White. I'm also glad that they decided to keep Martha
Kent alive, and they couldn't do much better than
casting Eva Marie Saint.

But I'm concerned about Lois's kid. If Dusty's
information is true, well, it'll be INTERESTING to
watch the moment where Superman finds out that
he has a child, but the problem is that after that
moment comes and goes, we're stuck with the fact
that SUPERMAN HAS A CHILD! And that's really
something I don't want to see, as I don't think it's
good for the character.

Also, I'm hearing rumblings that the whole "death of
Superman" subplot is still part of the scenario, which
I find disappointing. I was hoping that plotline was
jettisoned once Jon Peters lost control of the project.

I don't see Clark Kent in that guy at all.

Is it just me, or does his upper lip look like it's been waxed to within an inch of its life?

As most of you already know, I'm sure, Bryan Singer has had regular video updates on SUPERMAN RETURNS, as has Peter Jackson for the KING KONG remake.

In a clever bit of "stunt-casting," the increasingly-fatigued Jackson called in Singer to pinch hit for him during KONG's last week. See Singer's side of the adventure here, then jump over here and see Jackson's perspective. Fun stuff.

(Be warned, these are large Quicktime files, so if you have a slow connection, keep away.)
