There's one thing about the Spider-Man movie costume that bugged me:  they missed a prime opportunity to resurrect the original red and black design, from before the blacks became blues.

The Batman movies were able to popularize a design that hadn't appeared anywhere in the comics up to that point, and even was later adapted for a while into a cloth version in the comics.  It even took me a while to get used to the "real" costume when I first read some Batman comics in 1990.  A red and black Spider-Man movie costume could have led to a comeback of the original look in the comics.

Oh well, it's not as if Spider-Man comics are actually worth it anymore, whatever the costume looks like...

I think Routh's build and the low-waisted shorts make him look like Mike
Grell's version of Superboy from the early 70s.

I was watching CNN's Showbiz and they had bunch of people discussing the
latest movie news. They showed pic of the new Superman costume, many
commented on the S logo and the belt. One woman mentioned she was
glad they used dark colors for the costume and not the comic book colors
like the bright red.
Its a comic book adaption and they SHOULDN"T use the colors from the
original source material. This woman has no clue.

Someone should promote it for a possible sequel.  Superman v.s. Bizarro.  Maybe hollywood just can't do it right or they would have to allow the creators to supervise the material as it's being shot.

*********************************************

In my "version" of a Spider-Man movie, I would have had Peter "start" with the black costume from the '80s. That's what he would wear in his first apearance against Crusher. It would be the Hollywood agent who would advise him to "jazz it up a bit" for showmanship and you'd get a scene of Peter adding the red to the costume -- the result being the original red and black design.

I'd say he looks exactly like Superman from the end of his fist all the way up to his shoulder.

Everywhere else he looks too long, too short, too over-styled, or too something else.  My eye literally can't look anywhere but his arms and allow me to think "yeah, I guess it is Superman."

Not a good promotional item for this fan.

Edited to correct: why the hell did I hyphenate Superman?

I keep looking at the Belt Buckle, and wondering why it's not the standard oval.  Then I start to think of the S on the cape, and that it comes and goes.

I hate universes.  I'd rather have stories.
