And I realize it's not always (or often) the artist's choice to stay on a book or not.  I think I mentioned elsewhere that I was talking to Mark Texiera at Comic-Con this year (he was sketching at the Vanguard booth) and I told him how much I enjoyed his MOON-KNIGHT and wished he was drawing it right now.  His short response to that--"Tell Marvel"--was sad in a couple of ways.  It was obvious that he wished it too and it made me upset that Marvel thinks we'd rather read about a crazy guy in a white business suit than the smart and trend-setting "Batman but not Batman" that Doug Moench wrote with great artists like Bill Sienkiewicz or Mark Texiera doing the art.

So, add Doug Moench and Mark Texiera working on more MOON-KNIGHT to this list.

Although it was a complete story, I would have
loved more of JB's OMAC.

Roger Stern on Amazing Spider-Man.
Roger Stern on The Avengers.
Wolfman & Perez on The New Teen Titans.
Stern/Peyer/McCraw on the post Zero Hour Legion books (a lot of Legion fans didn't care for this era but I loved it).
Karl Kesel & Tom Grummett on Superboy (their second run with Superboy working as an agent of Cadmus).

Forgot to add Busiek & Perez on the Avengers.

I loved George Perez on WONDER WOMAN but once he stopped drawing it and was replaced by...I don't even remember who it was, some incompetent artist...I had to drop it. So, put me in for Perez on WW, as writer AND artist.

Also Gail Simone on WONDER WOMAN. Hell, Simone writing and Perez drawing WW might be ideal. (And yes, I liked JB's run, but as he's noted, he was on WW longer than he was on X-MEN!)

A lot of the ones already listed, but I'll stick with ones I didn't see:

Goodwin/Simonson Manhunter

A number of the late 60s DC "blink and you'll miss them" series, particularly Bat Lash, Secret Six and Angel & the Ape

Starlin Warlock (the Avengers and Marvel Two-In-One annuals made for a nice wrap up, but I would've rather seen Warlock #16+ until he finished)

Kaminski/Parobeck Justice Society

Action Comics Weekly (hey, I liked it... :-) ) (42 issues, so I'm going with short in terms of how long the series lasted from beginning to end)

The only time I was really bummed was JB's short run on The Hulk. Especially since circumstance forced JB to part ways in the middle of a 2-part battle between the Hulk and the Avengers. The artist who came after, who has done some great work in other stories, just didn't have the same energy as JB at that time.

In general, I always hope a team stays on the book for at least 12 issues, or 24 issues is preferred.

There are s[one pretty long runs turning up on people’s lists. I thought this was supposed to be short runs?
Some of the runs listed are nearly 50+ issues. That’s nearly 5 years!

Kraft and Perez on Man-Wolf.

Even shorter for me. The first issue I bought off the rack was  the last issue of the whole series.......aarrgh!

======
Jill Thompson might not be everybody's cup
of tea, and her rendering style looks
nothing like George's, but I'd hardly call
her incompetent.

Stephen -- there was someone in-between Perez and Thompson. I can't remember the name. It was around the time INVASION! came out. And the art really was incompetent -- or at least very stiff and unpleasant to look at.
