If you're going to reply with they can't fix it or it's too late. Please done bother posting in the thread. Things are negative enough already. I'm needing a little cheering up. Where as comics are concerned.

So keeping that in mind like to know. What you think they could do to fix things? What would make you happy?

Don't really concern yourself with if your ideas would be successful or not.

I'll post my thoughts later. Please try to have fun with it.

I`d cancel a large amount of the line, keep it to a
core of one title for Spider-man,X-Men,Cap
America,Avengers,Thor,Iron Man,Daredevil,Fantastic
Four(Yes them!) i would hire creators that have a
grounding in comics not novels. As this is a fantasy
exercise i`d hire the likes of J.B.,Walt
Simonson,Frank Miller etc on the relevant titles. There
would be no huge line-wide crossover events,i would
allow `special` stories in annuals and landmark
issues.I would make sure each issue was a jump on
point for new readers,no decompressed storytelling or
writing for the trade, but i would allow two parters
that included seeds for future stories, this way a six
issue TP,would contain 3 tales minimum.By limiting the
line to say 15 titles,i`d hopefully make it feasible
for a Marvel fan to buy the entire line on a monthly
basis,if they wished.I would include in the line apart
from the core titles,a Marvel Premiere type title for
trying out new characters and maybe a Team-up
title. Finally i`d make sure the characters were the
characters we know and love, not female versions(Apart
from maybe She-Hulk and Ms Marvel) or shady versions
like Hydra Cap! Also,i`d cap the price of titles at
$2.99

Yes, the first step would be hiring back strong talent from past like Simonson, Miller, Stern, Romita Jr. and JB - plus LESS crossover events. Bring back the old cover dress with the classic logos that had more diversity in their design so they jumped off the racks like they used to years ago.

What if Simonson, Miller, Stern, Romita Jr. and JB don't WANT to work for Marvel anymore?

1.  Monthly titles.  12 issues and an Annual.  No more of this 18 times a year guff.
2.  Avoid Character Blight.  No mini-series or specials for a character or group who already have a title.
3. Death To Rockstars.  If you can't hit 12 Monthly issues, you don't get the job. That's as Artist OR writer.
4.  Death To Editorial "vision".  Your job is to hire, fire, and make sure the book comes out on time with as few errors as possible. No stealth writing.
5.  Pull Marketing's Fangs.  Marketing does NOT dictate to creative.  Ever.
6.  Death To Redundant Books.  Check the sales. Kill any that don't measure up, even if they have an X or Spider in the title.
7.  Death To Death.  No main or supporting character can be killed off without EIC approval.
8.  Sense Of History.  The characters are immortal. They should be there for the next generation of readers. Respect.
9.  Death To "Writing for the trade."  Every issue is a story.  If you can't do this, hit the road.
10. All Ages.  This doesn't mean "kid stuff". It means anyone from 6 to 60 can read the book and enjoy it.
YMMV.

Brian, for the purposes of this thread that's an irrelevant question. It isn't a question of if these things could actually happen. What you all want to happen. That's what it's all about.

No more event stories.

Write for today's youth. Make something new. Don't try to recapture what was done in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. If people want that, that's what trades are for.

The 2.99 ship has sailed. DC is doing it,
but those books are shipping twice a
month. But, if you consolidate the line to
no more than 25 titles, a Marvel Zombie
can buy the line for $100 a month.

Limit storylines to 3 issues or less.

Bring the character models back to what
made them iconic.

Try attracting veteran talent, at least at
the start. Then try and create a sort if
mentorship program. Maybe a veteran artist
does breakdowns while a newer artist does
finishes. Similar with writing. Have the
veteran and newer writer co-plot. While
working with both to see who actually
scripts. Once the newbies establish
themselves as professionals, offer the
veterans a spot in editorial.

From the outsode looking in, it seemed
that around '98 to 2000, Marvel brought a
lot of Veteran talent back into the fold
with HEROES RETURN. Instead of harvesting
that knowledge and building the next
generation of Marvel, the kids got cocky,
pushed the veterans aside for new, new,
new. This threw the baby out with the
bathwater.

I think bringing back as many veteran
superstars as possible will be a good
short term boost, but most of the creators
from JB's era, probably dont want to deal
with a monthly grind. There has to be a
course correction for long term viability.

Reboot and start it all over again. The best way of dealing with ennui fanboys.

No more comic books. Replace them all with 12 comic magazines. About 100 pages, 4 stories, more than one character in each magazine, costing 7 dollars (8 tops). Plus a couple of extra mags to deal with the fifth wednesday. Those not interested in reading about She-Hulk in their Captain America magazine may go digital or buy the trades. At least two full stories in each magazine.

Talent should be able to write/ pencil each issue, of course, and respect the characters. No major change unless approved by higher powers and, once they're made, the following creative teams must stick to them (or reverse them in a logical way). Events should be extremely rare. Oh, and action in every story (very special exceptions may be okay).

I like the magazine with multiple stories idea Mario. Maybe not at 100 pages tho.
