JB's greatest super-power, as illustrated by these lists, is that he can make just about any character compelling.
Taking existing characters and making them better as maybe the strongest example. FF, She-Hulk, Iron Fist, Wonder Man, the Demon, Superman...and on and on are all examples of characters that I was willing to try because of JB working on them.
And, the bitter-sweet effect of setting the bar rather high. She-Hulk became a favorite because of JB but has rarely, if ever, lived up to his time with her. Superman too. FF for sure. And on and on.

One writer, I think it was David Goyer, complained that Superman was impossible to relate to because he had these godlike, nearly unlimited powers. Well, he didn't start out that way! •• Denny O'Neil used to say it was hard to write interesting stories about a character who could destroy entire alien races simply by listening hard!

JB... Regarding your run on Blood of the Demon. Even with the forced cross-over (Year Later, IIRC) you & Will Pfeifer rolled with the punches & told some great stories.
You even managed to "drag" Bud LaRosa in on the gig & you two were fantastic together for those relatively few issues you were able to do together.
Then you followed that up with good 'ol reliable Dan Green, & even squeezed in an issue inked by Doug Hazlewood, who is an awesome inker... IMO.
All-in-all, I enjoyed in immensely!

BLOOD OF THE DEMON and DOOM PATROL were both vastly underrated. They were not cookie-cutter storytelling, which is what fans seemed to expect/want.
Both reminded me a bit of LAB RATS, in that they did interact with the DCU and had interesting things to say and do, but fans managed to overlook them regardless.
