Great post, Anthony. Unfortunately, most of my toys I had as a kid have been thrown away. I guess I can mention the ones I loved. I still wish I had my A - Team figures, My ZX Spectrum (might actually be in my nan's loft) and my Return of The Jedi figures. I really miss my Marvel UK Secret Wars comics I have since realised they added a lot of JB's and other artists' work as backup stories. It would be great to look back on them. I can't even blame my mum as I was the one who threw the books out when I was in my late teens. Arrghh!

I had quite a number of what I thought were really great toys, and for the most parts, I tried to treat them well so that they'd last.

Unfortunately, I also had two younger brothers who were not so cautious about either taking care, or whose toys they actually were... and my parents didn't give a fig about ownership, save that possession was nine tenths of the law...

So I've included pictures of all the toys and games that survived with me from my childhood...

Sweet!!

I had a red pedal car when I was a kid in England. Not a specific brand. It got "lost" when we moved to Canada. (Years later my parents admitted they had sold it without telling me.)*

My dog didn`t go to live on a farm, she went to the vet`s
whilst i was spending a few days staying at my
nan`s,when i got back my parents told me the truth that
she was old and in pain(which i knew and understood),but
i still feel that by doing it while i was away, they
robbed me of the chance to say goodbye to my old
friend, even though their intentions were good.

As for the car,i vividly remember seeing it on display
in the newsagent`s shop around the corner, when i
received it for my birthday i was truly delighted!

Oh, and that's a 1969 Porky Pine figure with him, from the Procter & Gamble Pogo collection.

About ten years ago I found one of these at local flea market. It's not complete
but still pretty good looking. And I paid for it only 0.50 euros! When I was
paying it there was other customer who saw my finding and said something
like "Fine Battlestar Galactica you have there". :D

Here is one of the earliest toys I can recall. Got one for my 3rd b-day. I actually remember sitting in a high chair when my mom gave this to me. I had to finish eating supper before I could get my new toy.

Mine was a yellow and white wizzer top.

For my first entry I present Kenner's Stretch Monster.

I had Stretch Armstrong, Stretch Monster and Stretch X-Ray, but
Mister Green was definitely my favorite.

When I was a kid my father didn't do much in the way of leisure activities. He worked long hours and when he was relaxing. It generally was just watching the Mets or Giants on tv. During the summer he's spend his weekends fishing, crabbing and drinking lots of beer. I hadn't developed an interest in sports or drinking yet. So there was no quality time being spent doing those things. When I went fishing I was DRRRAAAAAGGGED along.
He did have one other hobby that I took a huge interest in, model trains.
He spent thousands of dollars over the years. On the trains and various set ups. My mother hated it, my brothers and I loved it.

He wouldn't let me operate the controls too often. Which frustrated me so much. But in retrospective he was correct in not letting me. I had a tendency to treat them like they were race cars. I was also a fan of the Addams Family. So I think that explains itself.

My favorite train set was the Santa Fe Super chief passenger train set. I liked the stream lined look of the train and loved that the passenger car windows lit up.

But without a doubt these are my single favorite pieces.
I still have the transformer but the engine is gone.

First is this Lionel dual lever transformer. My imagination went wild with this thing.

The Lionel 027 gauge postwar steam locomotive. With working light, whistle and smoke.
