Mr. Byrne - I think I miscommunicated to you. You used the adjective "universally" and so many of those Aurora kits were of the Universal Studio monsters...
My lesson - I shouldn't make dumb inferences before 7 in the morning...

A memory bubbled up from the murk of my mind. My mother took a picture of me in front of the shelves holding my models in my room, circa 1966/7. Fifty years! Argh!!How preppie can ya get! (Note glasses in hand. Mom made me take of my specs for pictures. I know not why.)

Yes. That, and the red XK-E behind it were big 1/8th scale kits from Monogram. The Jag was first, then about a year later the Vette. The former was crazy complicated, and for the latter they turned it down a bit -- a bit too much! Where the Jag had opening doors with windows actually operated by the crank, the Corvette's body was one piece, with only the hood and the headlights moveable.

Nice to see the Aurora Godzilla on your old shelf, JB.
If memory serves correctly, Aurora based that on the suit used in the 1962 KING KONG VS. GODZILLA movie.

That picture is gold! Potrait of the future artist as male model posing in front of the models!
Did you paint all of those? That must have been a blast.
