Sometimes I didn't mind those "Story So Far" pages - but I didn't want if I were an ongoing reader, and I don't think it helped attract new readers, because they couldn't present a synopsis of the entire story to that point, usually. And one of the things I especially didn't like was the recap, and a synopsis of characters which sometimes gave away plot points for the upcoming story, if a previously uninvolved character or event appeared.
And the bitter punchline to "The Story So Far..." pages was that someone at Marvel decided that since TSSF wasn't so good, they could use those bifold covers for advertising - and we got double page ads leading off the comic. Because EVERYONE loves more advertising...
