Martian Manhunter refusing to fight alongside Johnny Storm could be comedic gold.

I screwed the pooch on that Death/Orion thing, didn't I?
Orion is in despair and acting crazy, going on suicide missions that the rest of the NG's deem risky. He is seeing red, though, and Death begins to make his aquaintance. He, of course, is stand-offish, at first, to the point of violence. Slowly, battle after violent battle, she starts to make him see the light, and he balances the wanting to see and talk to her again with the fact that he needs to go into an even WORSE battle just to do so! Will it be before he gets himself killed? The final scenes are a play on what we need and what we want, married with what we were never really meant to have. I just love a good tragic romance story, and we all know that JB loves to break our hearts. I have ZERO love for Thanos. I find him to be devoid of personality.

Thing and the Challengers of the Unknown
While there are some parallels to the FF, I'd like to see Ben gallivnanting off with some fellow adventurers.

Spider-Man vs./with Batman
Spidey is getting blamed for some crimes in NYC (by the Bugle, of course), while Bruce Wayne is in town to supervise the hiring/opening of a tech research facility. Parker (college age, I think) is hired for an intern position, specifically in polymers. Etc.
Later on, Batman and Spider-Man duke it out, ending in a stalemate with Parker managing to get a tracker on the Batmobile. Wayne finds it and figures out the frequency, builds some device that basically tracks SM. Figures out Parker = Spider-Man. Fight round two, heroic end, blah.
I figure a nice contrast between two characters with similar origins that contrast as well - rich vs. poor, kid vs. adult, guilt/responsibility vs. strong sense of justice., and of course, night vs. day and gray vs. bright primary red.
At no point will anybody say the name 'Martha"...

I'm not being terribly creative here. I am basing my choices simply on what I would want to see:
Superman and Spider-Man
or
Wolverine and Batman
I like all sorts of characters, but if this is a limited thing, I am still sticking with those that interest me most.

I am at a loss for different ideas after all the posts here but 2 things are for sure, I would go for "minor" characters and I would go for very different heroes...something like Iron Fist and Looker !!!

It is so tempting to just jump in and start "Bitner"-ing this topic...
Jim Petersman, as the original poster, now that things have slowed down on this topic a bit, what would you say to throwing off the restrictions and allowing a few more suggestions from each poster so that those of us who read the first post and have been following the rules can have a few more bites at the apple?
You wouldn't regret it. Think of the tourist trade.

Each additional suggestion requires a $1 donation to the "Get Jim a Commission" fund ;)
Knock yourself out, but I suspect for some it will quickly devolve into a pairing of any random marvel character with any random DC character with no consideration to the actual story or whether or not JB would want to write and draw it.
But don't think I haven't been tempted to laundry list this myself, because I most certainly have. Enjoy!
