Sub-Mariner vs. Superman- Remember back in the thirties and forties when
Namor was really young and mad at the world, and he'd take entire armies,
aircraft, and tanks and roll up out of the ocean and down the streets of New
York, seeking to destroy the entire surface world? Y'know, he'd better not try
anything like that in Metropolis..!

I'd enjoy seeing that if along with a younger Namor we had an earlier
version of Superman as well. You know, the one who had just transitioned from
jumping to flying and was super strong, but not immeasurably so? If the Sub-
Mariner faced that Man of Steel, Metropolis would have great reason to
fear the coming of the Avenging Son! IMPERIUS REX!!!!!!

Batman and Dr. Strange would make a good supernatural/detective story.

Brian, I think the Namor vs. Superman and Batman ideas are great! Especially since the '1939' mindsets of all three characters means Namor and Batman would absolutely be trying to kill each other, while Superman would at least entertain the notion of dropping 'Fish face' down a volcano!

Brian, thank you! The Golden Age version of these characters still hold so much promise and excitement to them..! Imagine JB taking a Fleischer animated approach to Superman battling Namor and his legions back out of Metropolis and into the ocean, following after them to continue forcing their retreat..!

The idea of the Bat-Villains serving as Namor's generals continues to haunt me with all that could be done! Plus, picturing at least some of the story drawn by JB in a style reminiscent of Bill Everett..? Bill Everett drawing Gotham? The Bat-Signal? The Joker? The Batcave?? The Batcave UNDERWATER??? Holy Suffering Shad, Batman..! :-)

I love almost every iteration of the great heroes, but the originals and those that followed shortly thereafter definitely hold a special place in my heart! And JB does have that special ability to recall the best of any given era in his art!

I also can picture a scene of Namor refusing to lower himself to battling a mere female once the Catwoman pounces on him, and trying to take her out with a hypno-fish, the way he captured Sue in FF #14. He leaves to pursue other goals only to wind up cat-scratched from behind with Selina licking her claws and holding a fish skeleton by the tail... Of course she didn't REALLY eat it and we can show that with a passing glance of an empty fishing trophy mount in the background, but for a moment there, Namor at least would think she was as crazy as the others...

Now that we're allowing teams to be mentioned, an 80's-style Alpha Flight/ New Teen Titans crossover would be a hoot! We could definitely do Phillipe's idea of Raven meeting Snowbird (in a chapter entitled, "Capes Without Pleats!" perhaps?) as well as Aurora and Starfire; Northstar and Kid Flash; Snowbird and Changeling; Shaman and Raven; Marrina and Aqualad; Nightwing and Puck... Call in the reinforcements and we can have Hawk & Dove vs. Flashback; Wonder Girl vs. Diamond Lil; Cyborg vs. Madison Jeffries (THAT shouldn't take long!) So much potential... So much fun!

I can definitely play the Alpha Flight game:

Heather and Blue Beetle
Shaman and Deadman
Snowbird and the New Gods
Northstar and Wonder Woman
Marrina and the Martian Manhunter
Puck and Etrigan
Box and OMAC
Aurora and Raven
Sasquatch and Beautiful Dreamer
Guardian and Green Lantern (flashback)

I agree, Brian, soon much potential here. So sad that we will never get to see any of it come to fruition.

A few other ideas...

Kamandi vs. the High Evolutionary and his Ani-Men!

The New Gods vs. The Eternals!

Omac vs. Deathlok! "Hearing Voices!"

Not that too many people remember it, but the Inferior Five did a fourth-wall breaking issue (#6) in which they wandered the DC/National offices while waiting for their story to begin... She-Hulk would have fit right in... An issue with her and the I.F. going through the political and creative process involved in getting their crossover approved, written, drawn, and finally published could be fun.

Since these aren't likely to occur anyway, a Batman- Rom team-up in which Batman must bring in the Spaceknight after he kills the president ("No, really... The Analyzer TOLD ME he was a Dire Wraith!") would be a fun hearkening back to the days of the Brave and the Bold. Possible downside: that weird JB-predicts-the-future-thing could kick in. Better make the target a Hollywood star or prominent businessman (Bruce Wayne himself, perhaps? His right-hand man, Lucius Fox?)

A big bust-up between a number of Marvel and DC's giant robots would be fun to see under JB's direction as well! Ultimo! The Sleeper! Red Ronin! Master Mold! The Quintronic Man! Vs... Ultimax! Computo! B.O.L.T.S! Mr. Atom! and (wait for it...) Rog, the giant robot the Doom Patrol fought in DP #86, their first self-titled issue! The whole thing could take place under the premise of an X-Men/Metal Men team-up, two organizations featuring marginalized, "hunted & feared" memberships.

Silver Surfer vs. the Spectre- Jesus Christ vs. the Right Hand of God.

And, with that, I think I'll take a few days off from this. Really, any sort of Marvel or DC work from JB would be most welcome. Stories with characters from both companies? So much fun to imagine..! I really need to stop obsessing over it. :-)

Jim, I definitely like those ideas! Especially Beautiful Dreamer and Sasquatch. Later stories of the Forever People do tell us she likes her guys big, hairy, musclebound, & red-headed..!

Eric S's  Dr. Strange and the Creeper. is a "Oh My Gosh" inspired!

JB any love for the Creeper?

The JSA and the Invaders, with the hero's breaking up into small groups,  Be Still my heart.
