How did Courtney even know that Heather walked in on Mac as the pack was about to explode, leading to his demise? They were the only two in the room when it happened (Jaxon was already dead).

Uhm, er, uhm..... Security cameras! Yeah, that's it. Security cameras.

I always thought it was Lil.

People talk, and they especially talk to statuesque chicks with nice racks, and I'm guessing Bochs told Jeffries, and Jeffries told Lil, upon a bit of interrogation.

IIRC Jeffries hadn't spoken to Lil since their Gamma Flight days when he apprehends Omega Flight after their Guardian-resurrection plot has failed.

WARLOCK #9. First page is a splash with Adam Warlock, Magus, Gamora and Pip. It took my breath away when I first saw it. Maybe it was the detail of the page itself, the poses of the characters, I'm really not sure. It blew me away when I was, geez, probably 6 or 7.

I see what you're saying there, Matt, but, I'd still say they ran in the same circles, and that Jeffries looked like a bit of a barfly. Wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think that the story got out.

Also, Eric Brant just shared Joe Madureira's 2013 Facebook post of AWESOME MOMENTS IN COMICS, which give his detailed analysis of pages 36, 37, and the final page of Alpha Flight 12, alongside the actual pages.

And I just cried reading it.
Again.

Re AF 12 and the follow up supposed return of Mac. THAT didn't make me go 'Wow!' but what did, was when the exact same plot WAS used to bring him back in a later issue.

And it wasn't a good 'Wow'

"Remember that outlandish story that was so obviously false? Well, it was true!"

Can a nadir have a pinnacle?

But Frank's Dark Knight Returns stirred my juices in a new way, shall we say.

JB had laid some paving stones for this.

Up until that issue when Batman met Superman in the MOS limited series, I was saddled with the Adam West version.

JB showed me that the character had more intrigue and excitement than that.

••

Credit where credit is due, my interpretation of Batman in that issue of MOS was based entirely on what was going on in his own books at the time. Nothing innovative from me, there.

Remember that time when Magneto was on his asteroid base, and a picture of his beloved Magda came up? And you thunk to yourself, "hey, wait a minute, she looks an awful lot like..." And then that audible click in your head as things fell into place, and you realized how absolutely PERFECTLY it all fit together?

••

A stellar example of what we used to call "Marvel Serendipity." All these loose pieces lying around, and then someone (me, in this case) says "What it…?" and suddenly they not only fit together, but it seems like that was the intent all along!

As opposed to making all new bits, that were never lying around, and hammering them in with as much force as possible because they don't fit and wreck everything.

Like Tony Stark being adopted
Like Sabretooth being Wolverine's what now? I just realised, half way through typing this that I now have no idea what their relationship actually is any more.
