There is about to not be a single
character that is the actual character and
not swapped out for another, from Avengers
#4. Most have either been race or gender
swapped.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

Yes, and in most cases we're now going to have TWO versions of the characters.

There are currently two Captain Americas and two Wasps running around, the real Thor is about to get a new book (The Unworthy Thor) where he'll be wielding the version of Mjolnir from the Ultimates universe, and now we're going to have two Iron Men....neither of which will be Tony Stark.

Oh, and Hank Pym is currently merged with Ultron, and its Ultron's mind that is in control.

It doesn't seem like much of a punishment to take Thor's Hammer away if he can just grab one from another universe.

Also - what makes one worthy in one universe but unworthy in another?

Who the fuck is Amadeus Cho?

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

He was discussed in another thread.

RECAP: A teenage American/Korean genius. Currently uses a device which initiates a Hulk transformation, turning him into the totally awesome Hulk while retaining his formidable intelligence.

I like Amadeus Cho. I fell there aren't enough positive Asian-american heroes in Marvel. The current series is written tongue-in-cheek . Greg Pak writes Amadeus Cho like a teenager with a really fast sports car. You know there will eventually be an accident, and it will be horrible(a.k.a. fantastic).

I actually didn't mind Amadeus Cho's TOTALLY AWESOME HULK.  It was fun and it just seems that poor Bruce Banner should get a break from his curse every so often.  And there's plenty of precedent for others being gamma-irradiated.

BUT when Thor isn't Thor, Iron Man isn't Iron Man, Captain America isn't Captain America, AND the Hulk isn't the Hulk--all at the same time?!?  That's a bit much!

And there's no Fantastic Four, and the Avengers is a weird mix, and there's a Spider-Man or two running around that aren't Peter Parker--put it all together and there seems to be a plan to dismantle the Marvel Comics we all know and love.

I still cannot fathom why anybody thought it was a good idea--internally (in the story logic) or externally (looking at the movies and merchandising opportunities)--to make Sam Wilson Captain America!  The Falcon just got really popular in the last four Marvel movies and it would have made perfect sense to give the Falcon (AS the Falcon) his own comic!  Instead, they made one equal partner wear the clothes of another equal partner!  It's like Starsky being asked by Hutch to dress like Hutch and consider it an honor.  Maybe Luke Cage will ask Iron Fist to wear his old pirate shirt and chain link belt!

I tell you, there's some sort of war between the comics and the movies--Ike Perlmutter didn't like being ousted from the Board overseeing the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is doing some weird "Cut off your nose to spite your face" thing to make the comics different than the movies.  And, ironically, the movies right now are closer to the iconic comic book versions we all loved.

As an Asian American, I of course welcome more ethnic characters in comics. But I've never looked at a new comics display and felt disappointed that there weren't enough yellow, brown or black faces. What makes my heart sink is cheap stunts, unimaginative stories, indistinct art, and favorite superheroes that I don't recognize or no longer feel a connection to. Marvel should first and foremost fix those problems to bring me back as a reader.

ERIC JANSEN: It's like Starsky being asked by Hutch to dress like Hutch and consider it an honor.

Somewhere on the internet this is the start of a slash fiction story.

The Marvel Universe literally (used correctly) ended last year. The
All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe created by Reed Richards
maintains the illusion of sharing the same history in order to retain
Marvel's aging comic readership, but it's clear that the end goal is to
create a new universe of legacy heroes.

See, I fear that it's the opposite, and rather than going James Bond with
the various heroes, the MCU is going to stay real-time and the point of
these legacy heroes is to have ideas in place when actors like RDJ and
Chris Evans become too old for their roles.
