Not meant as a thread drift but i immediately thought of the Avengers 1 1/2 by Bruce Timm — That's a really fun comic.

Liking the ideas I am reading so far. All the images are forming in my head. :)
I wish the Lizard had faced others (I know some of you are advocates of "cross-pollination"). Imagine Lizard's tail against Cap's shield; imagine Iron Man's malfunctioning armour at the mercy of an angry Lizard; or what about Wolverine's claws versus Lizard's tails.
I am going to stand atop the Marvel US building one day with a huge sign: "MORE CROSS-POLLINATION, FEWER REBOOTS/CROSSOVERS".

I'm very much in favor of cross-pollination.
And I wouldn't mind seeing books where the stakes are not the entire world/the future/etc. Sometimes it's good to see Daredevil beat the stuffing out of Stilt-Man.

I think if you re-read the lizard's first appearance, Ed is right about the Lizard being a tough customer. It seemed clear that he was physically superior to Spider-man. Throw in his vicious nature and the fact that he has subconscious access to Dr. Conner's scientific knowledge and i think he might be more of a threat than would be expected.

Um... seriously? I surely respect the idea... green on green and it sounds kinda neat. But I think that the Hulk would have to be not the Hulk for this to be more than one or two panels. (Or maybe the Joe Fixit level of strength?)
But of course, good ol' Marvel would have done it, and it would have been FUN. FUN - that's what this idea is! How would it work? Maybe the gamma energy that the Hulk radiates would interact with the Lizard's formula, and make him gigantic or some such. Giant-Lizard vs the Hulk... y'know, Robbie, I think you've got something here!
QUERY: Did the Hulk and the Lizard face off on Battleworld during the Secret Wars?

Glad you like it, Eric. :)
I am almost certain Lizard and Hulk didn't face off on Battleworld. I've been craving this battle for so long, that I think I'd have remembered.
Having read people's comments now, it seems a natural encounter. I came to this topic purely and simply thinking about a punch-up, but having digested everyone's views, I can see legitimate storyline reasons for Banner and Connors to meet up. They are kindred spirits in a certain sense.

We all ignore what we want to ignore. I have always chosen to ignore the the world war hulk and the power ups the hulk has gone through. In my mind the hulk is the strongest but not so much that he can't be challenged by much lesser characters.

The more I've read the posts here, the more convinced I am that it can be more competitive if a few angry reptiles are thrown into the mix, if the Hulk is depowered and/or if the Lizard receives a power boost. Sometimes it has to be done. Superman VS Spider-Man is a short fight, but Spider-Man got a power boost in the first crossover which allowed a slightly more even match-up. Whether it's depowering Hulk or giving Lizard a power boost, I am convinced it could be made more even.

This thread takes me to a very happy place.
When I was a kid, I loved teaming up my Mego Hulk and Lizard action figures, as well as having them face off. In my imagination, the Lizard would usually trick the Hulk into helping him at first, only to turn on him when he realized what the Lizard was doing. And yes, lots of reptiles were involved, including the gigantic Shogun Warriors Godzilla toy from back then!
Thanks for such a fantastic thread, Robbie

And thank you for the reply, Lloyd. And the anecdote about the toys!

Nice story Lloyd. That is one h#@! of an advantage for the lizard if he can control Godzilla!
