I was just watching the behind the scenes making of The Incredibles DVD, and noticed one of the creators had the Michael Golden poster up on his wall.

I've always wanted that poster. The best thing about it is the Falcon.
THAT is how his wings should be drawn.

When Marvel made Michael Golden its art director, they (or rather
Wildstorm Press, of all companies) released a limited edition
lithograph version of this classic poster. It features late 90s
recoloring, but otherwise it is the same image. [WHOOPS, should have read page two of this thread, because Christos already posted "my" version!]
I too always wanted the original poster (it was advertised in most
early 1980s Marvels), so I jumped at the chance to own a version of
it. It cost $150 bucks (I think it is one of only 150 printed), but it
looks good in my cubicle
at work!
In recent years, Dynamic Forces also produced a much less
expensive variant print called "The Golden Years."
(Btw, the "heroes on the march" layout is a bit of a forerunner to JB's
covers to the deluxe edition MARVEL UNIVERSE HANDBOOK.)

Fantastic Iron Man image. I only know Golden from a few pin-ups here
and there and The Nam issues. I first ran into his name thanks to
McFarlane who talked up Golden as an influence. I can see a lot of
Golden's influence on 'early' McFarlane inking and extra line work in
some of the posted images. The Iron Man piece reminds me a lot of Todd's early ASM work.
From that poster, which *is* nice, I have to say I think Rob Liefeld
did some cribbing along the way looking at the forearms of Hulk as well
as Kazar, the way fists are represented on Namor the and reminds me of
some Liefeld visuals in X-Force (v1). Even general body shapes that
Golden uses in the poster are quite similar to "hot" Liefeld era.

Michael Golden did some killer Batman work in the late 1970's/early 1980's, too. That Batman Spectacular (DC Special Series) and his work in Batman Family were something to behold.

Hey-
Any idea what issue of Amazing Heroes that interview appeared in or what year? I would love to get a copy or even see a photo of what this guy looks like.
