What if JB drew a sci-fi comic coloring book?

I am all for a John Byrne colouring book!
If you're going sci-fi you gotta unleash the robots! Imagine a black and white book with pin-ups of Byrne robots.

Sci fi images would be cool. So would characters created by JB (Trio, Next Men, Danger Unlimited, etc)

If I am going to do this, I can't do it for a niche audience (fans of TRIO, NEXT MEN, DU, etc). It has to have a broad appeal, or it would be a waste of time for everyone.Might finally be a place for stuff like this, tho. . . And, no, I don't mean single figures on otherwise blank pages.

JB, wouldn't a coloring book with your name on it already be for niche audience? As a consumer, I'd expect some JB-created (superhero) characters inside. Perhaps even some homages to your iconic covers.

It would be insane to produce something like this targeted at that tiny corner of the local comicbook shop that has Byrne product -- if that corner even exists! Something like this cannot merely be an extension of what I have already done. I can't preach to the choir. If I do this, I must try to reach the widest audience I can, including a lot of people who don't read comics and have never heard of me. In short, if you're a John Byrne fan you would find something here for you -- but not ONLY for you.

I see what you mean, JB... you do need to appeal to the masses; those NOT familiar with your work*, (tho' you DO cast a large 'shadow'!) but hopefully there's room in this book for at least a couple of homages to your superhero work.

*I can't imagine that could be considering the mainstream appeal of the X-Men... for starters!

I'm hesitant to say I would want this type product. I remember a few years back when a pretty vocal detractor made the comment that all JB's work looked like coloring book illustrations. ( Of course, the comments were made out of mislead anger, but that still made a negative impact on me.)

Well, if nothing else, if I do this it will show the detractors that my reg'lar stuff DOESN'T look like coloring book art. At least, not coloring book art by me!
