Think an actual comic like this, with Len's gorgeous coloring, would be a hit with fans.  I really love what I've seen so far.  (I miss the High Ways.)

Len's colors on the sample pages have been fantastic. A very nicely restrained and professional use of Photoshop. The only thing missing is word balloons. The fish in this barrel are easy to please, but it would certainly be more in line with European comic books that my kids read. What about hard cover like those publications?

 | •• The "word balloons" are on the facing pages, in the text story I wrote to accompany the pictures.

Ahh, I meant if you were to do a comic in this style of art with Len's colors. The samples seem nice enough for publication and would only be missing word balloons to be published as a comic. My post is a little stilted because people keep bugging me at work while I am trying to read the JBF. =) I also see I missed recording my thought; "the fish in the barrel at the JBF are easy to please". I think a book published like this would work fine. My girls have several series they keep up with. The coloring book sample pages remind me a bit of Yoko Tsuno.

Chris Ryall and I were wondering this weekend about fan reaction to doing an actual comic in this style, with Len's coloring.

The preview images immediately made me think of Moebius, so yes please, do an entire comic in this style!

It occurs to me that doing a full comic in this inking style would almost certainly cause me to revert back to the "assembly line" process I used before the PITT pens came into the picture. Then I would use a combination of tools to create the effects I needed, so I would lay out a page in pencil, then ink everything on the page that was one tool, then everything that was another tool, and so on.

 | In this case it would not be about tools, but line weights -- inking the heavy foreground lines first, then the next weight of line, then the next... Could be fun!

I hope you give it a shot, JB, at least for a special, if not a series.

Anyone know how a colorist using magic markers might fix a mistake? |

Speaking of Moebius...I've mentioned this before, but in case someone hasn't seen this video check it out, it's from a French show Tac au tac:

OT: Mr. Byrne, I feel pretty safe in saying that any comics endeavor you would attempt that would feel "fun" would have a very solid audience to partake. Maybe not hundreds of thousands (although one could wish), but a really dedicated crowd. I know I would... is that enough? :)
