And I was all excited to pick up a nice colored pencil set in anticipation of the book's release.  Glad it's not a competition, 'cause them's gorgeous!!

Add my voice to those praising Mr. O'Grady's work.

Now if I could only convince him to color every page of the extra copy I
plan on buying...

Those planets look like they'd be fun to colour. Looking forward to having a crack at it myself. The gradations of purple in the starry sky is particularly awesome in Leonard O'Grady's version. I'm assuming he put the stars in as well.

This is really a remarkable page.  It's identifiably in the Byrne style, but it feels sort of revolutionary to me, like some kind of change and growth is happening under the surface.  I'm sure there's a better word than 'growth,' since it sounds pejorative in this context (and I REALLY REALLY don't mean it to), but I don't have one handy.

Anyway, in one word: SWEET.

Not sure how "growth" could be taken as a pejorative -- unless you're talking about my waistline!!!

I'm a decent draughtsman, but it's totally ludicrous for me to tell a man who's been a dedicated working professional for 85% part of my lifetime; whose reputation for dynamic composition, exacting anatomy, and 100% convincing perspective is well-earned; and who has created tens of thousands of pages of comic art (many of which have achieved iconic status) that I can see growth in his work.
