I DO reserve the right to state that I prefer your '80's-era Superman faces to your current ones. Can't really put the reason into words, but I do. That's the only area where I "harken back," so to speak. ••
Interesting. I am not conscious of doing anything different! **
Maybe that's why I can't quite put my finger on the difference. Your Clark just seemed more handsome in the '80's!

Looking at that picture of Superman getting blasted, JR Jr really does appear to be Kirby's heir in terms of dynamic use of lines to represent power/energy. The art is so vibrant!

Yes; he has some Kirby in him, with the kind of pages showed here Then he can have some magic from his father with some quiet pages, and you can also find some John Buscema in other pages But in the end, the storytelling is pure JRjr

Rob Liefeld suffers from the same thing John Romita Jr. does in terms of opinions on the internet.*****
Wow… i can't imagine comparing Rob Liefeld and JRJr in this way. Romita Jr LEARNED how to draw and story tell properly while Liefeld has continually struggled in those areas.
Even today, those differences are clear. Sadly, the internet community has an odd opinion on what they consider good comic book art.

I just want to say that JRJr is one of the best!
For me, artistically, he has the weird of Ditko, the strength of Kirby, the sweetness of Romita Sr., the sensuality of Big John, the energy of Sal Buscema, the body movement of Gil Kane, the mastery of light and shadows of Colan. He is like the receptacle of the best of past decades aiming to the future.
I hope someday he, like JB, Ron Frenz, Keith Giffen, Kerry Gammill, get all the recognition they deserve as the great artists they are -most of them accused of the unforgivable crime of growing as artist-!

No one else draws quite like JRJr. Which is one of the many reasons I stood in line for around 2 and a half hours just to get an Iron Man head shot sketch from him at a con several years ago. There are only a handful of other artists I'd do that for, considering I have issues with my back.
And anyone comparing him to that hack Liefeld is a moron. Liefeld is the most overrated artist I can think of and deserves the heaps of scorn he receives.

There's definitely a pre-Generations and post-Generations Superman I've noticed in your canon. I could be totally wrong (not actually being inside your head), but I wonder if some of the deliberate era-specific style changes ended up affecting your 'inner' Superman?

In one statement, you've just proven not only what I was saying was true, it also proved how people on the internet takes a opinion they don't agree with, then without cause, insult the person with a opinion that differs from their own.

DC did an edition of JR's first Superman issue, entirely in pencil. That's well worth checking out.
And for fans of the cosmic:
