After my extremely disappointing experience at the CinyComicCon (see above), I'm happy to report the Cincinnati Expo was a huge success! This has become the premiere comic con in the state of Ohio without much question in my opinion. Huge crowds, busy artists and busy vendors of all types. I came home with lots of fun stuff and had great interactions with pros, celebs and fans.
I met and got signed photos from Billy Dee Williams, Lee Meriwhether and Peter Meyhew. I got a signed art book from the great Basil Gogos. Purchased three great looking books from the Frazetta family. Purchased a couple amazing books from William Stout and had a great time chatting with him. He really made the show for me! Art purchases will be shared in the "New Art" thread.
I decided to pass on Stan Lee and Rob Liefeld, the two main attractions of the show. The Expo was billed as Stan's final midwest show. $100 a pop for signatures was deterring NO ONE. I estimated 500 people in his line continuously and I heard someone say the wait time was 4 to 5 hours. Liefeld had an equally long line and I was told he was charging $30 to sign and more to sign "key issues". Gross. Again, no one seemed deterred at all.
Anyway, lots of happy people everywhere, spending money and making memories.
