SUPERGIRL has turned out better than I thought it'd be…. they're really building good storylines and bringing in the most unexpected characters.

Not to be crass (so of course I'm going to be crass), but does this mean
a slice of tv royalties pie for you, JB?

Dunno, really. Received a nice check a couple of weeks ago identified as a "discretionary bonus." Maybe it was something to do with this, maybe something else.

Since it was for an amount equal to what Marvel sent me to say "thanks" for "Days of Future Past," I'm guessing it was something else!

I hope they cut you a nice check for this and give you a "created by" credit, JB.

I think there was some flap a year ago about Gerry Conway not receiving royalties for characters he created that are being used on Flash. Something about DC expecting Conway to notify them about which of his creations have been used on screen before they would send him a check.

IIRC, Paul Levitz used to make a point of making sure creators were
compensated when their ideas were used in other media. Now it seems
like writers and artists have to make some kind of noise to get it done.

"Received a nice check a couple of weeks ago"

isn't there some kind of legal paperwork to go with it that indicates exactly what its for? or do they just throw you some cash now and then and assume its good enough and you wont inquire?
(im not asking what the details are, just if they tell you exactly what they are paying for...)

JB, there's been number characters you've had a hand in creating making appearances all over the place recently:

Scott Lang
Darren Cross
Livewire
Amanda Waller (TV and the movie)
Silver Banshee

Heck, even Kelex just made a short appearance on Supergirl!

Surprisingly faithful for a show that so far hasn't been very faithful with... well, anything, really.
