Visually it works well, especially with the silhouettes. But I would have guessed the heroine was more of a female character like the Black Widow. Could possibly miss the target audience altogether when people discover she's a female mutant-sorceress casting probability altering hex bolts.

Just saying.

If she is! But what about that cover tells you this is a female character? The word "witch"? Shouldn't a good cover inform us of the contents WITHOUT the logo?

I agree JB. Without the logo it really tells you nothing about the main character. In my opinion it's almost misleading and leading one to think it's a comic about spies.

The cover is nice, but it looks like a book cover for a spy novel or something.  And even then, the title would be needed to carry through the idea--"Intrigue in Vienna" or something.

Stock/Generic covers are nothing new. A lot of Golden Age issues had covers that had nothing to do with the story inside. Heck, it took around 70 issues of WORLD'S FINEST for Batman, Robin and Superman to all appear in a story together, but every issue prior to that had them playing baseball, fighting in WWII, etc. or just standing around on the cover. The main difference between these covers and modern covers that do the same thing are the older covers look like they belong to a traditional/classic comic and the recent ones do not, imo.

It took me a while to see, so maybe I'm not the only one, but the entire image is the Scarlet Witch's face. So, there's that.

Either you're nuts or I am, because I can't see a face there.
I'm wondering if my computer is showing me the same image you guys are seeing!

Lars, its supposed to be a picture of the left side of the Scarlet Witch's face, with the lips in the lower corner, the helicopter as a nostril, the red dot in the center of the map is her iris, and the red border is her "M"-shaped headdress... Kind of like this...

Ah, yes! Once seen, it cannot be "unseen."

However, as a cover it still fails on the points I listed, plus one more: it's too "clever." Basically it makes the same mistake I made with the "hidden Darkseid" on the covers of GENERATIONS III -- the image is SO hidden, it doesn't reveal itself as the intended character. In this case, a "face" can be seen (or half a face, more correctly), but it takes a considerable leap to conjure from the face the soft features of the Scarlet Witch. Note how radically Brian had to alter the "eye" to create a recognizable image.

As is, the face on this cover looks like it might be better suited to one of Marvel's All-Zombies, All-the-Time books.

wow thanks Brian. I am usually better at seeing those things. Slipped right past me! Now I am left wondering why they are targeting her eye? Still it had to be pointed out to me. I would not have seen that if Brian had not brought it visually to my attention. :(

That's a lot of work, for such a small payoff.
