I'm sure a big chunk of the world's population would recognize Stan Lee as the old guy who keeps appearing in those Marvel movies.

My husband did not know Stan Lee until his cameo on "Big Bang Theory" and he asked me who was that guy.

I'm trying to think of a comparable literary question.  Ask ten people who Sherlock Holmes is as the next ten who Arthur Conan Doyle is.  Or ten who James Bond is and ten who Ian Fleming is.  Guessing both men will beat Stan Lee, but perhaps not.

My 87-year-old Mom knows who Stan Lee is and she's never read a comic or seen a Marvel movie.  She has, however, watched TV and read the newspaper.

Ask these people who say "Who?" other pop culture questions--I'm betting they don't know a LOT of people!

I work at a retail store near the airport here in Columbus. A couple years ago, Stan was a guest at the Wizard convention formerly known as MidOhio Con, but I had chosen to pass on the con because, y'know, Wizard. So I was at work early Saturday when a woman wearing a "guest" badge came into the store. (I have no idea what sort of media-related guest she may have been...). I told her "tell Stan I said 'hi'"... She gave me a blank look and said, "who?"

Never mind...
