I went back to the thread I started ten years ago, detailing the assembling of my new Studio, to find a picture for comparison to present day:

What a difference a decade makes!

It's got that lived in look!

And does it really feel like 10 years to you, JB?

One of the smart things I did -- and it took a while -- was to allow the center row of lights to burn out without replacing them. Those fluorescents are BRIGHT! Now the room is much warmer.

++++++

And does it really feel like 10 years to you, JB?

••

Not even close!

In fact, yesterday one of the light switches in the kitchen developed an odd electric buzz, so I turned off that bank of lights (there are three) and turned on another. Instantly the room was transformed. It was no longer my familiar kitchen, but something. . . strange, not unlike when I first moved in.

Which still feels like it was about three years ago.

Those are great comparisson pics - the studio is much improved!  Very much a home studio in the best sense of the word.

I moved a few years ago, and I am still finding my groove.  I lived in my last place over 15 years, and the move was difficult.  I threw away a lot of stuff, which turned out to be a very healthy purge that I have tried to maintain.  I am a hopeless acquirer of Stuff, so I just try to trade away just as much if not more of what I bring in.

The best part of the move -- I rerally love the new place and neighborhood.  I wish I had listened to advice and moved sooner!  I;m in a much different part of the city, although it is still Los Angeles.  I moved a lot as a kid, but I don't like to move as I get older.  I guess I want the roots I didn't get when I was younger.

12 years!!!!

Footnote: My local grocery store is undergoing major renovations, but remains open for business. However, everything is moved around, as they shift stuff to different shelves in order to work on the others. The effect, the first time I walked in, was that it was a whole different store -- which gave me a gut-crunching feeling like I had just moved!!

Mr. Byrne, are you wearing the bottoms of your trousers rolled yet?

I'm a step behind you, my friend, and I have great reason to believe that you're in a LOT better shape than I am! Reality keeps giving me a shot from behind, right in the kidneys...

Speaking of - EXCUSE ME! :)

As Socrates once said when discoursing with Aristotle, "Huh?"

Sorry. Too obscure a reference. The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot. Thought it might fall into your sphere of knowledge, which seems to be as big as Luna.

Not very well versed in T.S. Elliot's work.

(I'm not as smart as I seem to be. I just have a talent for redirecting conversations toward stuff I know about!)

Looks very pleasant. Be careful of possible snow build-up on the flat roof. It can build up and sometimes require maintenance to fix. But that house looks amazing. All the best with the new move.

You do understand that I have been here for 12 years?
