the last time my little family and I moved, we were forced to do so. It was a little bit more than a year ago. My baby boy was just 2 months old and the owner asked us to move away within one month ( we were a family of 4 ) to allow a relative to move in. We had to rush to find a good place, just 5 minutes by walk from there. We were lucky. It is smaller ( yes, no logic in this one! ) but the flat is actually much better dispatched. We are 5 people in 680 square feet ( with the maid we have had to hire because both my wife and I are working ). And it is connected to the shopping mall with all the facilities... Sometimes, moves are for the good.
It is a little bit too small now as the 2 kids are growing and I want a better working area for my stuff. We are considering to move again!

One Week to Go!
And yesterday I made my first "official" purchase for
the new house:
Wanted one of these since I was 16. Finally got a
house where it will fit, both in terms of size and style.

Congrats on the Eames chair, Chief. May the two of you have many years of comfortable (and stylish!) sitting together.

When I called in the order yesterday, the gal at the other end, who identified herself as 'Megan' and who sounded all of 22, got very excited and said she so wanted an Eames chair and was very jealous. I told her I had wanted one since I was a teen, but did not mention how long ago that was!

Hey JB,
Care to share the name of that favorite Japanese restaurant?
I'm curious if I've been there. If not, my girlfriend and I are
always on the hunt for new restaurants here in Fairfield County
to check out.

Sakura, in Westport. Food is generally top notch,
and the hibachi is to die for.

Chief,
If I remember correctly (maybe it was buried in this thread) your
current house is on the National Register of Historic Places? Is
that right? I believe, IIRC, that you mentioned extensive
remodeling had just been done before you purchased it. Two
reasons I ask.
If its not currently on the NRHP list, having you live there would
certainly help it's cause. Having a famous person live there is
one criteria. No offense, but you're probably not enough to get
it over the hump. But hey, it probably takes a comic legend like
yourself to even make a blip on the radar for something like this.
Secondly, a structure can also be nominated if it is an outstanding
example of a distinct architectural style. Has enough of
the house been left in its original look, not counting modern
appliances, of course?
I'm not planning to nominate the structure or anything, just curious.
Thanks as always.

Just a Reminder...
Stock up on methadone, as the JBF will be going
"dark" on Thursday midnight, the last time I will have
access to my computer until everything gets set up in
the new house. The Grand ReOpening is currently
scheduled for August 5th.
