There are fewer things I hate in the world more than moving!****** I did it a lot when I was a kid. Eleven schools in eleven years, for instance. But I have been in Stately Byrne Manor for 20 years (next month) so I am somewhat out of practise!

This doesn't seem right, it is like the Queen of England moving or the Adams Family moving to Florida to live in a condo. I actually find it odd that the world will exist without you living at the "manor". It is kinda sad in a way...

Will the JBF be closing it's doors during the move?

For some portion, I expect. When my computer is
out of service, for instance, which I hope will not be
for more than a couple of days at most.

I am both saddened and excited by this move. I had always imagined I would stay in the Manor for the rest of my life, but time and tide wait for no man, they say, and the circumstances of my life dictate the move. They also dictate not moving into another money pit, hence the dramatic change in style.I will miss the history in my current house. I get quite moved, some times, when I sit in my living room and realize that people sat in that same room and read in their newspapers about Lincoln being elected, and the first Bull Run, and Gettysburg, and Lincoln's assasination -- as well as the Spanish-American War, the First World War, Prohibition, the Depression, the Second World War ---- lotta stuff! In the new house the oldest news anybody read about was Reagan getting elected to his second term! But, hey, in a hundred years, that will be "history", too.

As an Adams, it always bugged me when people use the ADDAMS family wrong. Although I would love to be related to Charles Addams, he probably wouldn't like his name misused as the comon Adams.

A Man and His Tape Measure
Back at my new house yesterday, testing the air conditioning system. (It works -- a good thing, I suppose, with the acres of glass on the west side of the house.) Also running around with a tape measure, figuring which of my stuff will fit where. I am slowly adjusting to the fact that rooms in Stately Byrne Manor are not going to translate literally, one for one, into CasaBlanca. Looking at the rooms and thinking "Ah! So that will go there is actually starting to be something akin to fun! Also nice to see the house dressed in its Summer foliage. The property and surrounding woods have been pretty stark without leaves on the trees! And, of course, the pool was liberally decorated with dead leaves and other detritus, as expected. And June 1st, POD Day, ticks ever closer! To borrow a line from "The Life of Brian", "It's happening, Reg! Something is actually happening, Reg!"
