Any word on the other bidder?

It's crazy how house prices go.  I really can't afford the house our family moved into last June, but the resale price (it's a new house) has already jumped from 360,000 to 550,000 in less than a year.

that is majorly f$$$ed up.  What the market will bear, and all that jazz, but sheesh!

Good luck, JB!

Your telling me?! I bought my house about 4 years ago for $267,000 and it is now worth $400,000! Much of it was already re-done when we bought it, so all I've done is paint.

You should see the prices down here in Florida. After the hurricanes went
through, any house still standing and relatively undamaged immediately
went up in value 20%-50%. I signed the contract for mine right before the
prices went really crazy. In the 3 months I've owned it, it's gone up in
value something like $20-$30k.

Most of the stuff getting tossed is from the bottom of piles and stacks that have sprouted over tears of accumulation. When I have not seen or found use for something in that long, I know it is time the toss it. (Along these lines, the easiest tossing will be the several rooms that compose the attic of Stately Byrne Manor. One or two possible eBay items -- my old drawing board is up there -- but most of the stuff has been out of sight and mind since I moved into this house, so obviously will not be needed in the next one.)

My rule of thumb is that if you haven't used it in 5 years, it's time
to throw it away. I usually try for three years, but that doesn't
always work out!

Bidding war - Good Luck Chief!  Don't know how they handle it in Connecticut, but in New Jersey my wife and I got involved in one...I think our sellers got 5 offers in the same day, so it came down to what they call a "Last and Final Offer" situation...ended up being a couple thousand over the seller's asking price, don't know how much we ended up outbidding the others by, but we ended up with the house.
