I like both ROM and the Micronauts (I like the Micronauts a little bit more), but I have no interest in reading any modern day comics featuring those characters that is not tied to the MU. Mantlo did such a good job (maybe too good of a job) of integrating those 2 properties into the MU that I find it very hard to get into either a ROM or Micronauts comic that is not tied to the MU. However, Marvel does own the rights to the original characters that were created for those comics and could (and have) bring those characters back and put out new comics featuring those characters. While it didn't sell well, I did like the Spaceknights mini series (which had to be set about 20 years in the future since it featured the sons of Rom and Brandy) by Starlin and Batista that Marvel put out 15 years ago. I can't say the same of the Enigma Force mini series that Marvel put out several years ago, which was just terrible.

Instead of putting out a Venom: Spaceknight series featuring Flash Thompson as Venom (which is beyond stupid), they should just put out a new Spaceknights comic set in the present day and featuring a new team of Spaceknights who are sent to Earth to protect the planet from a new threat by the Dire Wraiths. They could even recruit some people from Earth to become Spaceknights.

Marvel could bring the Micronauts back as either the Microns (which is the name that Loeb gave them when he brought them back during his run on Cable) or as the Micro Force. The team could consist of the Micronauts characters that Marvel owns as well as new original archetype knockoffs of the characters that Marvel doesn't own.

I didn't like the previous revamp of the Micronauts. But it had a bad story mostly. If I was doing a revamp I would base it on the toys and ignore the Marvel series. Otherwise you will get a poor copy. Though I would draw it as much like Golden as possible...

I really enjoyed the later issues of Micronauts when Butch Guice was
doing the art. The X-men/Micronauts mini was my gateway to those
characters (I was very late to the game).

It seems to me that the toy line and those characters were fairly well
integrated so I really don't see how a continuation of that group of
heroes would be possible. Marvel owns Rann (not Space Glider, though),
Bugg, Marionette and Huntarr. Hasbro owns Acroyer, Karza, Biotron and
all the ships.

I'd think a complete reimagining would be necessary.

IDW only has rights to the NON-Marvel stuff

This is awesome

Let IDW do what they seem to be pretty good at -- make great comics
