To me, the Marvel magazines of the late 70's and early 80's like (RAMPAGING) HULK, MARVEL SUPER SPECIAL, and even the B&W SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN were the ultimate comic book format--and Norem's beautiful painted covers were a big part of that.  That STAR-LORD cover for MARVEL SUPER SPECIAL (at least!) should be in a museum one day.

He did a lot of Conan type fantasy work, but I remember his Marvel comic paintings the most. Friends have been posting their favorites and while I am unfamiliar with the body of his work, it is interesting for me to note the images that recall some distant memory. RIP, Earl.
