Well I'm glad to see it go. The Marvel Universe as it is now is much different than the one I grew up with. I don't like what's there now. What comes next may suck as well. Probably will but still. I'm gonna give it a look. I'll make my judgement afterwards.

Sounds like a reboot to me. And a chance to have a tonne of first issues.

Does anybody really think this is going to be for the better? We're just going to see classic characters replaced by their Ultimate or movie version, and characters Marvel doesn't own the rights to minimized (X-Men...) or written off totally (the Fantastic Four).

And of course, 20 years from now, those Ultimate and movie versions will seem, at best, 'quaint' throwbacks to the 'oughts' and 'teens'. You'd think they would have learned by looking back at how stupid the 90's versions of their characters got that the classic characters are built to last in their classic form, while their 'updates' date themselves incredibly quickly.

At this point can it really get any worse?
As long as they don't start giving us new versions of storylines that have come before, the last thing I want to read is another version of the Kree/Skrull War or Days of Future Past...leave the original stories alone and come up with something new or get out of the buisness.

Wait and see.

If this was like Crisis in the 80's, and what was coming from Marvel editorial was: 'We've really made a mess out of continuity. People can't understand who the characters are and their histories have become totally impenetrable, we need to simplify...' I might be able to be hopeful.

That's not what I'm getting. What I'm getting is that they think they're taking the current Marvel books to the 'next level'.

I think the things they're going to be 'finally fixing' are the last remnants of the characters and stories I loved as a kid, leaving a horrific mess in their wake.
