I was looking to this image these days. It, for me, represents why this was my favorite character in my youth.
This is the best Wolverine drawn by John Byrne, for me. It's not a classic image as the cover os Days of Future Past, but it's the one that better represents what the character is. What he should be, at least.
Which Wolverine drawn by John makes you remember how cool he was?

So many! The DPS from #115! The Sewer from #132! Wolverine #17 cover! But I've always had a soft spot for this panel from #128, probably my favorite issue from the Uncanny run:

This.
This was my very first Wolverine moment. Ironically, it was also my very first JB moment. A friend of mine had given me this issue - he'd "had it sitting around on his dad's boat" and didn't want/need it.
I flipped through it before reading and this panel grabbed me.

The sewer scene is emblematic, for sure!
The first issue I read was the final part of Days of Future Past. In the same magazine (in Brazil each mag came with three or four american issues), I read Alpha Flight #2. I was stunned. But I was too young, I lost the book or my mother threw it out, I can't remember.
The first one I got and kept for my collection was X-Men 125.

This sequence is very Logan, to me. Especially the middle panel of the bottom tier.

That one (X-Men #139) was the first one I bought in English. My father helped me to translate some things, I should be 12 or 13 at the time. But it was a X-Men Classic, not the original one.
After that I bought the same issue in Portuguese and discovered they changed the dialogue in the last panel. The X-Men were already calling Wolverine "Logan" in previous issues for some reason, than that talk wouldn't make sense... Sad...

Rafael,
There was a company that produced a shirt with that Logan image. Thought you might be interested...

My first time "meeting" Wolverine was a couple pages in the first part of a two-issue AMAZING SPIDER-MAN story that guest-starred Nightcrawler. I thought Wolverine was a jerk.

I've never figured out how to post images but the cover of UNCANNY X-MEN #133 has always been my favorite. It's a great action pose of him just slicing through Hellfire Club goons. I just love it!

Put your vote where your mouth is, y'all: Comic Book Resources currently has a poll on "All Time Favorite Wolverine Artist"
With about 2250 votes in, JB is currently neck-and-neck with Jim Lee, and everyone else trails far behind.
Of note: Frank Miller is 7th and Cockrum is 15th on the list; Herb Trimpe isn't even an option.

There were three panels that made me like Wolverine. When I discovered the X-Men it was in the back issue bins. I had the benefit of reading a whole bunch of them in a row. I wasn't really aware how comics were made at the time. So I didn't know there were months even years between some of the issues I had. As far as I knew JB and Dave Cockrum took turns drawing the stories. and
