Two page 2s (each weekly episode comprised of two pages of art) from the third Dan Dare adventure, Marooned on Mercury.

Hampson was mostly absent from this story, with the bulk of the artwork being produced by Harold Johns.

Standout page 1 from the Man From Nowhere/Rogue Planet storyline.

To my mind, this was the start of Hampson's peak period (the latter-half of the 1950s).

The artwork was now being illustrated 'same size' (as the printed page) and, despite the smaller scale of the drawings, the attention to detail was amazing . . . really jewel-like in quality.

Unfortunately, many fine originals from this storyline would later be cannibalised to form a late-1960s (abridged) reprint. This cover page is one of those victims of the butcher's knife . . .

Beautiful pages. All "pre-me," since I started reading with the first episode of "Terra Nova" in '59. I only have a few examples from that vintage in my collection -- mostly pages that were "recut" for the annuals.

The bulk of my DARE pages are from "Project Nimbus," excepting one Keith Watson from the later, black and white days. I picked it up mostly because it has the Mekon on it.

Here's a peek at the one of the portfolios I purchased recently, in which to store the EAGLE front pages I have been hauling around with me for >choke< 55 years!! A few episodes missing, but mostly complete thru "The Earth Stealers."

A page 2 from Rogue Planet . . . or is it?

Actually, this is a re-formatted page 2 that was cannibalised from three separate artboards.

Standout Frank Hampson page 1 from Rogue Planet.

Thankfully, this page was omitted from the abridged reprint, so mercifully escaped being cut-apart. Note the use of hand-lettering in the opening frame (very unusual to come across such things).

At one time I owned this original, but sold it in recent years when I was in the process of funding a very expensive house move . . .

Very nice Frank Hampson cover artwork from The Reign of the Robots (note the almost-3D effect of the campfire scene in the opening panel).

I still own this original.

This is the following week's episode to the previously uploaded artwork from Reign of the Robots.

Artwork is mostly the work of Hampson's right-hand man, Don Harley (who was very good at emulating FH's style).

Another artwork I still own.

Another Reign of the Robots page that I sold in recent years.

Particularly noteworthy for the re-discovery of Dare's personal spacecraft, the Anastasia (lost at the end of the Red Moon Mystery story).
