Not the best redesigns however.

Each needs some tweaking but I like them both. In fact, I remember getting that issue of Captain Glory from Topps. That said, there's only one Captain America!

Fine for Captain Glory, but too much yellow for Captain America.
It may be just that I'm most used to it, but I like it best of all the America-themed costumes I've seen: The Shield, Superpatriot, Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E, Miss America, Liberty Belle, etc., etc.

I'm just glad things worked out...so Marvel could trample all over the design NOW. Oy!

It's difficult to beat the Captain America costume; it's a real thing of beauty. I'd put it up there with Batman's costume as one of the finest in comicdom. Gotta admire Kirby's balls to even attempt the task of coming up with some alternatives.

Bill Everett once did some Captain America redesign sketches on the back of an Amazing Adventures page as I recall...

That Everett design is pretty interesting - but I don't know about Cap with a cigarette!

I'd say Simon/Kirby's Captain America is one of the best costume designs in superhero comics history and almost certainly the best patriotic hero design.
