"George Perez's JLA/Avengers 3 which I actually had engraved onto the cover of one of my laptops"
*************
I've never heard of having a laptop cover being engraved. What does yours look like Corey?
************************************************************ ******************
Here you go:

A friend of mine bought a laser engraving kit.  He can engrave anything from baseball bats, to guns to glass, to even a blanket without the laser cutting through the other side.  When he was learning to use it, he showed me a laptop of his with a detailed dragon design that he was able to engrave by linking his machine with a computer program that allowed it to cut the image on the computer screen.  I gave him my laptop and a jpeg of JLA/Avengers 3 and asked if he could reproduce it.  Here was the result:

And yes, that's colorist Tom Smith and George Perez's signatures on the laptop.  (more on that below)

I soon afterward, got a second laptop.  Instead of getting this one engraved, I went to skinit.com and ordered a skin of the JLA/Avengers picture.  Here's the result:

This was originally a black & white image, but i colored it myself in Photoshop, using Tom Smith's colors as a guide.

And now for the kicker.....

I took both laptops with me to the New York Comicon last year when George Perez was there.  Waited nearly 3 hours to meet him, and when he saw the laptops, he went nuts!  He then grabbed Tom Smith who was next to him so he could see it.  Apparently, this had never been done before, and they were both floored.  Especially with the engraved one, as it was a perfect representation of the original image.   Smith even complimented me on the coloring job on the other laptop (which is like Michael Jordan complimenting you on your jump shot, lol)  You can't see it on the white laptop, but both Perez & Smith autographed it like they did the black one.

Here's George Perez and I,  holding my prized JLA/Avengers laptops.

And here's Tom Smith getting a look at one of the laptops

I can honestly say that if I never go to another comicon, I can die happy.  This experience will be extremely difficult to top.

Those are phenomenal Corey - I bet you (and they) had a great time when you showed them to George and Tom.

Corey, that is easily the best comic con story I've ever read and those are some smokin' laptops!  Congrats!

Those are my prized possessions now. When those laptops die, I'm just going to get them framed and mounted, lol!
