I just returned from the convention. I had planned to take picture but my son who was responsible for the picture taking forgot the memory card at home. I'll share my experiences thou. First I'll say my negatives before the good stuff.
It was way too crowded for my taste. I knew it would be thou. I needed have been upset by not being able to show work because of the problem with my drawing hand. There was no opportunity to showcase my art anyway.
I had to pay 70 dollars to get Stan Lee's signature. It really was more than I wanted to pay but I had to weight my options. Looking at Stan he look so frail. I know this would be my last chance to meet him. So I paid the money. I was inline with only 5 people in front of me when he stopped signing. So I had to stay 2 and a half hours longer than I planned. When the time eventually did come. My son could come with me he had to stay in another room because I didn't pay for him. Even thou he wasn't even planning on getting anything signed. Stan didn't really speak to anyone. He barely looked up. I felt bad for him. I was disappointed by the experience I wanted to meet him and thank him for all he has meant to me. That didn't happen. But given his age and how week he looked. I wasn't angry just disappointed.
My feet and back are killing me.
Now for the good stuff ..... I MET STAN LEE !!!!! I at least got to meet him.
I saw Neal Adams,Tom Raney, Ron Garney.I did some networking with Brian Pulido. I ran into Marc Silvestri in the crowd we had a few nice words. I saw Joe Quesda in the crowd. I wasn't interested in exchanging pleasantries.
I saw John Barrowman. So I I saw from the wrestling world Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Brutus Beefcake, Tito Santana and Greg the Hammer Valentine.
I picked up some comics at good deals.
Amazing Spider-Man 66 for 25 dollars Werewolf by Night 25 for 7 dollars Tomb of Dracula 48 and 53 5 dollars a piece Fantastic Four 66 and 67 5 dollars a piece I got a hardcover collection volume 1 of the Spider-Man newspaper strips by Lee and Romita which I got Stan to sign. That book I got for 10 dollars.
So in the cosmic scheme of things the good makes up for the bad.
All that being said I can say I've gone too my last convention. It takes too much out of me. They aren't really for me anymore anyway.
