The white boots and gloves never felt right to me. Still, if Reed had discovered a way to keep them clean...

I liked the black turtlenecks, too. However, the blue was less stylish, more workmanlike. Have to try some recoloring to see how She-Hulk would look in those.

••

Same way they kept the black ones clean.

Like Chuck Norris, dirt is afraid to touch the Punisher...unless it looks good.

Yes, but unfortunately they're all in his head.

As long as we have a thread about costumes open, was there ever an in-story reason for Wolvie switching to the brown suit?

Yes.

It was a One-Panel Limited Series called "Why not?"

Great read!

Today that panel could be decompressed into a crossover event.

And then there's the Wasp (Janet, not Hank) who changed her costumes on a regular basis.  Come to think of it, so did Hank (though he changed his identity too).

Late to the party, but regarding Luke Cage...I think his "classic" look is the way to go. Headband, afro, and all (the afro's made a bit of a comeback, yeah?). Big chunky chain around the waist. That's right. He's Power Man. He uses a ship docking chain to hold up his pants. Because he can.

On the subject of costume design: trunks over long pants is one of my favorite items in Superhero costumes. I miss them in Superman, Batman, Hawkman, Aquaman (black ones, a long, long time ago), Green Lantern's elongated body suit (instead of a battle jacket) and others.

The argument that trunks belong to Wrestlers and Circus Strong Men is older than I am, but it's wrong. Of all fashion, both professional and personal, Superhero work clothes are the ONLY place where it can be considered normal. Lead, don't follow!
